How good and how tired? Untold millions have been gambled on his goodness now. He turns 5 in 5 months for 12 runs, just how tired can he be? Variety Club was already on his 11th start when he raced against Jackson in last year's Derby. I don't think a career could have been planned more carefully for any horse.
Maybe the break Jackson needs is from humans who expect him to perform miracles, and that includes the handicapper. When he won the Daily News the 2nd and 3rd horses were Vettel and Shogunnar who were 93 and 89. The win before that was beating Variety Club over 2000m and making that a 116 would have horses who are still 1 time winners about 100.
Happily for people who lean on the mute button, the talking heads on TV are relentless price shorteners no matter how many times they are wrong. I guess they just lucky no one keeps score on how bad they really are. Keep it up I say.

to be honest guys this wasn't jacksons run......He has run two bad races (or one bad one and one ok one) in his lifetime
1) The July.....Greyville is NOT his track even though he was there
2) He had a rediculous run in the QP which took the edge off hiim completely......
He will be a good stallion one day, no doubt about it. He has the conformation and the stride and ability to make it.....
Lets give him a break, he sure deserves it

I think it best to excuse or almost draw a line on this J&B result, well to some extent. It did valididate ability and form in some, but not in most expected.
How do you make explain many other fancied runners who ran no sort of race? Reminds of the Past Master race few years back.

Well said. Because a horse gets beaten a couple of times, by a champion in Variety Club and then doesn't quite make it in the two biggest Grade ones in the country doesn't make him a bad horse. He is a top horse, I dobagree with ZO though, he doesn't seem to have improved much as a four yo. Gelding would probably be the answer but that is not going to happen, he is already too valuable for stud even if he never runs another race...

There is nothing wrong with the level he`s at,tactics might have a big factor, these stayers races are run at a redic slow pace.. Striker moved pomodorro to the front not because he wanted to make it a better pace but because he wanted a better position in a crawl..

Wasn’t the Met his mission?
The July run has been well documented that the Daily News was his mission anything after that was a bonus
i believe and my opinion the July winner deserves more respect than given
When the panel discusses Pomodoro and Jackson they always refer back to the Daily news run
Why do they forget tht all those horses were pepping for the July
