You're obviously a pyjama game fan. Proteas have the test cricket mace, the most prized cricketing possession, way above lottery limited overs trophies.

In my opinion, Jackson was again too handy and his wins he was never ridden in this manner. Jackson will be back, i'm sure of that!
My question is...........i wonder if the Jooste's are now regretting not running Variety Club in the Met? I reckon he would have won the Met on the day.

Jackson is a top horse but obviously things need to go his way on the day...he certainly does not have the kind of ability as stand-out champions such as Pocket, Igugu and Variety Club has/had but I believe that he can win a few more grade ones.
I do agree that it would be interesting to see what jockeys such as Felix, Andrew, Rob Fradd or Superman could do with Jackson in a big race.
I'm still in Jackson's corner...

Jackson has consistently been 4-5 lb behind Variety Club over 1600m, at both 3 and 4, which makes him a very decent horse over that trip. He has always appeared to be a couple of lbs better over 2000m, while we only saw VC run once over 2000m as a 3yo where he ran a few lb below his mile form, but still was the second best 3yo in the country over that trip. We will never know, but every reason to believe that he would have run well in the Met.
Martial Eagle improved dramatically on his previous form with a great run in the QP , and many of us wrongly assumed that was a flash in the pan and would not be repeated. Congratulations to Yogas for a superb training feat in sorting out whatever was holding this horse back previously and for having the confidence to step him up to 2000m. As a son of Silvano no surprise that he saw out the trip.
Hill Fifty Four has been on the upgrade, and Beach Beauty ran close to her best rating. The horses carrying 60kg just weren't good enough to give the 2kg to the first 3.
I had Jackson, Pomodoro and Beach Beauty as my early Met picks, and they ran 5th, 4&th and 3rd so this was actually quite a form result although not reflected in the prices of the first 2.
Jackson did not run that bad a race- just a few lb below his best.
It's not easy to keep entires going, especially over ground.
Bottom line he is a seriously good horse who unfortunately for him was in the same year as a real champ, VC and quite possibly will not reach his full racing potential at 4 and 5 since he is too valuable to geld.
Once again both the Met and Majorca showed that good horses can win from any draw at Kenilworth.

In my opinion the jockeys rode to instructions in The Met instead of using the galloping speed of their mounts thereby allowing the sprinters to out gallop them at the end.

I spoke to Yogas on the Wednesday and we discussed if there would be pace in the race.He said the following :" If they go slow and we in a good position we will go very close to winning it as he has a tremendous turn of foot ". He also added that he could not see pace in the race. He was spot on !

This Cape crawl is doing no favors and the three horses first round the bend stayed there with only Beach Beauty running on.

Champs have real heart. Jackson is good but no champ.
VC runs 1 or 2 almost every time. Look at other gutsy champions. Igugu's last win here. Pocket power.
Real champs.
Too little result. Too much hype. Like Potala Palace.
Pomodoro got champ blood in him. Always tries.

BMT....my uncle in the Karoo had a sheep dog, his name was Geelslang. He could heard sheep and do all the tricks in the book. He was head and tail above the rest of the dogs in the district....come competition time, boere-orkes, braai-vleis, Karoo-queen comp, and all the razz metazz, etc, dan is daai hond van die pad af. Hy doen dinge stil stil.
Someone mentioned it earlier, but mvho is that maybe Jackson get's nervous with all the people and noise, etc.
