Pylon vs Magic Smoke et all

Not having a go Justin but, it would have been nice to hear your comments/arguments prior to the race.

And please, we all blame something or somebody when our horse loses... even if it is just the horse having a bad day, oneself reading the form wrong or trainer/jock etc.

Maybe I'm wrong!!but here is goes..
Pylon rated 110 and magic smoke 99.. Diff = 11 pounds = 5.5kgs?
Pylon gave Magic Smoke..7.5kgs?so technically-according to Official MRs she shouldve won by 2lengths? Without claim.. Pylon would win by 0.5lengths?
Pylon won by how many lengths? 7? Beat MS by 9ish? So what does that mean now? Sorry I'm not questioning anyone,I just want to see if my reasoning is right?

Exactly - I am not one who gets up in arms when I read a race wrong - and I often point out that horses are not machines - however today I feel I was given a raw deal - last time the filly ran she was allowed to stride from the front - today with the weight in her favor, she gets tucked in - now it is maybe possible that she did not have the speed to get to the front, but to me the jock never made an effort to get to the lead - not sure if that wah his instruction or not.

I would have felt better had she gone to the front and were caught in the last 200/100 - anyway that's my last word on the subject - let me rather congratulate Wally Brits and partners with their winnner :)-D

Not an expert on the perdigrees (get it :) ) but Trippi loved the dirt in the US. Many of his offspring ran like the wind on the dirt.

Perhaps For Freluche could be a runner here at decent odds?

I know I'm being an ARM, but after the 3rd race the form behind Baron Zemo looked decidedly suspect - I then looked at the 4th again trying to find something to beat the Dragon - but could not find anything :(

Ok im new to this whole merit rating thing but as far as JustinV has expleined it to me this is how i read it.

My thoughts on the magic smoke incident...Appy claims should not be taken into account. The reason they are appies is they dont race as well as the seasoned jocks, or at least that is the theory. Therofore based on the merit rating of 110 vs merit rating of 99 a diff of 11 pounds which is 5.5kgs. There was only a 5kg difference so for me weights didnt come into it as they were quite evenly matched. Then looked further and Fradd up on the stable companion from Loopys Logic way of thinking the intent gives us an indication that Pylon is the better horse for the day.

That was my 2 cents. I still took the 10% return on Magic Smoke for a place bet.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!
