Many posts complain at how the following companies are run.
In this post please all including Pirates (nothing personal) tell us whats actually wrong and what you would do to make it a better company.

Its easy to sit back relax complain but to fix need to know whats wrong.

Personally i think South African racing is in a great position.Clyde Basel doing great job.
Pools are health
Breeding healthy
Attendances on the up.
New sponsers
Few new BEE owners
Need higher stakes is all i think is wrong.
In this thread please dont discuss selling of tracks thats history or the lights from New Market

Start treating the punters with a little more respect coz as I see it we are just as an important part of horse racing business as any other party involved.

Been trying to get them to transfer my money to my account for 2 days now and all they do is shrug.
They let things like the recent debacle at Clairwood happen etc. all of this filters down to one group THE PUNTERS!!!

An absolute lack of transparency especially around corporate governance. Also their media handling strategy (maintain stoic silence and pray they go away) is really really bad and only works in a monopoly. Anybody following the Telkom story ????? Is what happens when you are a monopoly for years and yers and then competition enters the fray....

I quote from another thread......

this tote story is really getting me seriously pissed off. I do not know what who was trying to achieve, but Zaaifontein was 20/1 when it bolted, was paying a packet for a win and a place but how is the following betting moves on the tote..... whilst it is running down the track...

0 14 68.7 .. 9.4 88
0 14 9.4 .. 5.3 49

The fields are 'time to off' , Horse number, Win Payout, New Win Payout .... % move... so from R68.70 a win to R5.30 a win ????

What made me have a look was that on Tabonline it was showing 90c a place while galloping down the track....

On topic of Your Funds ask Craig im sure he will reply to you
About Clairwood debacle this is not the operator but NHRA problem.
The oncourse Vets play a big problem in my opinion and do not care about the punters.
Horses bolt the course declared fit to run and 1 in 100 perform.
But its not the operator.
Call NHRA and complain.

Those things are caused by people manipulating payouts cancelling tickets at tote outlets.
How to stop it.
Its not the punters problem about tranparency.Corporate Governance.etc

Hello Zenyatta .... errrr, that IS certainly in the balliwick of the operator ::o .... If you run a greengrocer and one of your staff is dipping into the till, or 'overweighing' fruit for his mates.... do you ignore it ?

Its not against the law to cancel a ticket.
a punter takes bet in error he can cancel
Why bet on tote bookie odds mostly better .
If i was in Natal as a punter or bet a lot on the tote i would be upset that there is no Loyalty Programme for the punters who support the tote.
Everytime i take a cash bet i should earn points which can be redeemed for meals drinks etc at the course.
The operators need the punters give them back something for loyalty.

But who knows maybe operator only cocerned about overseas co pools.

Zenyatta you are basing your assertions on an ASSUMPTION... and that assumption is that the only tote manipulation is ticket cancelling. R3 bars worth ::o ... A horse shortening from R68 a win to R5 a win while bolting down the course ?? And you are in charge and do not even want to know ..what is going on? Why is it going on? How does it affect my business and what am I goimg to do about it..... and how am I going to ensure my customers that I am doing something about it and that way protect my business ?

So not much seems to be the operators fault - but hopefully the tote falls under the operators? Then surely there should at the very least be an explanation on how a horse that's bolting jockeyless down the track can shorten so dramatically - I would have thought cancelling tickets on the horse in question would result in the odds lengthening - not shortening?

And I agree on the 'rewarding loyalty' - but I have not heard anyone representong the operators even mentioning this possibility?

And the issue of pools - are they growing in real terms? And if they are growing, is it because more people bet on the tote - or are less people spending more - do they even know?
