In South African horse racing, what have been the cheapest horses bought at auction to go on and win the July, or the Met or the summercup? Do you know which auction they were purchased at and how much was paid?

I think In Full Flight went for >R10,000 (somehow 3500 rings a bell but wouldn't rely on that)

Neither Elevation or Sentinel ever beat him in a number of meetings and he won the July as a 3yr old

Beat Mazarin and William Penn in the Champion Stakes that same year.

Can someone confirm the Flaming Rock story? I seem to remember the mare(mother) being bought in foal or something to that effect.
