Mcbride and his family are heroes to the majority of South Africans...his family was abused and beaten on a daily basis by the security branch because they thought they knew where he was...they killed many of his friends and teenage cousin in the process...he had to do something, they could not use courts...initially he had planned to bomb a nursery school but the ANC forbid him...then he decided to bomb a bar that was patronised by those savages the security branch members...here is a fearless young man who gave everything for his community and family to be free...yes he is a killer...i suspect you won't understand...the security branch were probably your heroes.

Yes, there are many who fail to see the other side of the coin except what is in proximity!
Though I was also a victim of the security branch (theu bust my door early in the am, with my wife in her nighties, they proceeded to ransack the two rooms, looking for a 'terrorist'! The terrorist was none other than a balck kid the wife and I took in as he had no mother and we were sending him to school; today, that kid Justice is, I believe a senior technician / manager at Telkom).
I worked the hatred and animosity out of my system; initially reacting to comments.
Today, I maintain that there is a lot of ignorance about us and paranoid intolerance; We are a country of contradictions; we sympathise with our 'own' kind and are derogatory / unfeeling about 'others'!
Then, we talk of reconciliation, humanity, etc!
It's time each of us took that cross to educate, inform and respect one another as fellow human beings first (dump religion / belief, race, etc aside!); each and everyone of us has a chip on the shoulder.
That should not detract us from being mutually pleasant and respectful!
I trust I am not long-winded or seen as a self-righteous preacher!

2 women died in that bombing, don't think they were security branch members..
How can you say he is a hero if he planned to bomb a Nursey school.
I also don't understand how he is your hero FC

2 wrongs make a right in some instances... in many peoples eyes...
In this country... the law needs to be handled by the community at times...
Not too sure if any of you guys heard of the saga that happened in Umhlanga just the other day, the cops had a sting to catch a card cloner in the area @ the one garage, the cops caught the perp, and he managed to free himself from the cops, the cops didnt chase him down to apprehend the guy so the one petrol attendant ran after the perp, tackled the guy and handed him back to the popo's...
HOWEVER - getting back to this Boston tragedy, wonder if a North Korean dude living in the States had something to do with this... with the tensions over the whole Nuke war threatening out the East??? Can speculate - would be interesting when someone steps forward...
Terrible to say the least on all counts...

@wouter:
' get him to sort out Telkom's service it is well poor (especially for a new client)'
regrettably, I have no contact with him; besides, I doubt he is up there!
your best bet is to call the 1025 / 10210 number early in the morning or over weekends.
I also had numerous teething problems; now sorted out after pestering the helpline technicians (and I learnt a lot along the way).
BTW:
the above par service in this country is from The Shams who keep us timeously informed!

@ umlilo - was worth a try - have to agree, gotta keep on their backs or else service will not be there, just I can't stand holding on the line for 40minutes, to cancel the one of two accounts created... *headache*
As for the service levels of the Shams - I have to agree it is well above bar too bad all business entities cant take a page out of their books regarding service - Cheers to the Shams

I don't expect you to understand
RM was in teachers training college during the 80's...he could have led a comfortable life as a teacher...but the boy from Wentworth could not take the injustices of the system anymore...so he decided to give it all up and dedicate himself to fighting it so that his family and community could be free...no matter how many times the security police violated and torchered his granny, mother, sisters and other relatives with all kinds of objects, he never gave up...he could have bombed easy targets such as schools, rugby matches, old age homes, weddings, police stations and even the NG Kerk...but decided that he only wanted to target the savages...that bar was frequented by the security branch...the people that went there must have known...so he is a hero to many because of what he stood for and the courage and commitment to their struggle...nobody can change that.

anybody that hits from behind is a pussy and a coward. This is the same for your "hero", planting a bomb is fcukall if you feel that strong about the topic at least have the balls to strap one to your chest and get on with it.
I am fed up with "justifying" actions because "causes" were / are worthy

'The bar was frequented by the security branch' - and this makes him a hero? Hard luck to any innocent bystander who just happened to be in the vicinity - I'm sorry, at the very least he should be serving a life long sentence
