Mmmm......this is simply called hedging.....often one has the exotic into the last leg and goes for a bit of cover on a spook....I once backed this very same dog trying to cover an exotic.... But brassed it last time as 1st run on sand was too shocking to warrant an inclusion

I left out 2 horses in the last leg of my 22% Pick 6, Spectroscope and Rock My World true to form they ran 1st and 2nd last, what I still cant get my head around is how anyone could make a case for Spectroscope given the exposed form :S maybe I should have done what Heinrich no doubt did and have a few bob on the 2 horses I did not have in the pick 6..something I did consider but just couldn't bring myself to do it
Give everything but up!

@Muthiman....i didnt hedge anything, but know what you mean.like i said previously...S was on the last page on my printed book...so i never gave him the day of time....so as soon as i realised he could win...i took ew.

?.......Spectroscope is one of many horses that fall into my capable but unpredictable category.......I do not like the Spectrums as this is generally the types of pattern racing they display......they are capable in softer going and seem to take to sand but unpredictable and land up at the sand venue only because they battle to compete at the major centres.......

Agree...SUGaR RAY and KINGS BOUNTY comes to mind aswell...but regarding S...you can see on breeding and the fact that he likes soft gona that he was gona like the sand...the light weight gave me more confidence. In the cape theres horse called Bashir...followed him...lost 3* in a row won the other day without my money...alot of them like S out there

then you don't know what hedging is........it is simply seeing that for some reason one overlooked a possibility and then realizing that one could be in trouble and take corrective measure.....many an astute punter do similar.......

I included Spectroscope in my quartet (paid R27k) as I recalled money for t at long odds and it faded late (a few runs back)..also thort may appreciate the surface....but on exposed form was pretty k@k to put it mildly.

I backed it on his previous run on the VAAL aswell as his running style at Greyville proved he was looking for the longer straight.

Maybe you should learn to study form.

Have a look at this run and you'll see how why you should in fact be punting it as opposed to leaving it out your p6.It was a monster run @ the weights in it's 1st run on the sand.

66-1 was yummy.

Maybe one day you'll learn to talk less and listen more, but I've told you in the past that'll never happen.

Back into retirement,bye bye.
