?......very old trick.....simple ear plugs made from cotton wool and masking tape......my late dad had a similar
horse that shirked in the final 200m in the days when a simple weekend meeting would attract a several thousand people....the crowd noise at the finish would phase him.....with ears plugged he ran his guts out
?.....but there are now head gear made from a lycra type material that fit over head and ears with padded inserts to muffle the ears.....very popular in Japan

Would love to see Jackson taking his place in the Gold Cup, could be deadly over the extended trip. There are no real top class stayers in SA 'Seal is consistent and a new shining light may emerge but at present he must hold a decent chance if Brett goes that route with him. Anyone else think he may/may not stay or if this is a feasible option?

I hope nobody whispers to Jackson that VC is still around!

Perhaps these last few months rest, followed by a temporary stable box in the MDK yard (Thunder Dance),will revitalise his jest for winning.
I did include him in my CTC .

This horse always seems to be running a prep for something else. In his life he has run in three 2000m races for 1st (Gr1), 1st (Gr1) and 5th (Met).

Variety has beat him 4x, 1600 1600 1600 1400. I suppose he had to try. If he were mine, I would spend most of his time in 2000m races, not in shorter prepping for a 2000m race, and certainly wait for Variety Club to take him on in 2000+ races and give the shorter races a miss.

In my opinion, he is one of these over-prepped horses always trying to be timed to the minute..... you blink and your career is over. Since winning the derby: 7 runs, 4 preps, 1 July, 1 Met and 1 win and 100 gallops. It's a very 'old fashioned' approach where you spend lots of time practicing and standing in your box. In the end it feels like a horse that was all promise and less delivery. Although he has won or run 2nd in nearly all his races, many are disappointed. Without variety Club, I think jackson was would have been favourite to win every race.

Variety Club did 2000m only once. He has won 7 of 8 1600m races. If he hadn't bled, he would probably be on double the runs of Jackson. Once you've been beaten a few times, you may as well race instead of protecting your record like an unbeaten horse. Maybe there's a lot we don't know.

two wfa group 1s wins over 2000m as a 3yo
three placings in wfa gr2/3 over 1600m as a 3/4yo

can't be overrated....perhaps just badly handled

They were 3yo races, not wfa

I think they shud go the Thunder Dance route and send Jackson up north to Gauteng country, nothing wrong with Karis Teetan still retaining thr ride.

Where there's a will, will be a way.:P

correct but the weight factor was neutralised anyway which makes them true test of ability...

what ability? The proof is in the pudding. So far he is a flopped cake.
Hope springs eternal.
If he was any sort of a 'great' his record would be gleeming by now.
I would love to see and witness a legend, but sadly I think Jackson is not a legend.prove me wrong Jackson, I would love to see you shine
