Hibs
Correct and the current model in the uk is no where close to telly track and it clients expectations. For example interviewing connectinons and listening to them thanking everyone and their dog.
as i said before i was in sa in jan and i thought tellytrack delivered a god product, i thpught some of the presenters could possibly have done more homework but overall i thout it was ok.......
The funny thing is all these okes want to see the canter past but on a saturday or public holiday the sa course are still empty, you would think that all these okes that demand catner pasts would be on course on their days off work

After hearing the views of Hibs and Easy and the comparison to the UK models etc, I tend to agree that we should accept Teletrack even with the mediocrity (sorry Pirates). BTW... where is Pirates.
However, the presentation needs to be improved, eg Mr Waffles (ala Greg).
What good is it to the average punter in the many totes who rely on Teletrack for info, when you have presenters giving their fancies whilst the horses are being loaded.
It is impossibly to take bets in a few seconds. I feel that their final selections should be made at least 5 minutes before the race.
My second point is that there has been many instances when presenters still waffle in the studio even when the race is about to go.
BTW It was refreshing to see a change of personnel presenting in PE yesterday. Both Shelden and Gavin give constructive views on their selection.

How many people bother about canter-pasts when they take a Pick 6 or Pa which are big money spinners? What about multiple bets? The canter-past is excellent for purists and serious punters and obviously it aids in making a selection but showing them would actually kill turnover of foreign races which are a low cost money spinner for Phum. It is a reality of the modern gaming platform that caters for R20 punters. Phumelela is only feeding the ducks as the Tote punter is really not interested in technicalities of the sport and has taken to Foreign racing with little or no info. This punter will wager with limited knowledge because he must. He punts like an addict and so Phumelela treats him as such which is good business sense (I am no a fan of Phumelela but they created this churn-over betting and it works)
If you really want to watch canter-pasts the feed on the RA Site shows them.

Mr H
100% if you been waiting for a horse to run and are going to have your max on then make the bloody effort and go to the course or PAY someone whose judgement you trust to go to the course for you. I cant accept how "the canter past " being shown is such a hot topic. I mean would you have R10k on a horse without seeing it in the flesh? and even if teletrack ONLY showed sa racing you would want to be on course just incase the feed had a problem or something like that.
If you want to have a go at the system then i think there are far better fights to be had
1: published public workouts (this would by default create proper racing journo's)
2:interview the winning connection AND the rider of the fav in the race to get feed back on the most popular horse
3: increase from zero the number of suspensions for in and out running
4: create a separate channel (already got the feed) that ONLY shows SA racing (no presenter nothing just a live feed from the course) charge this out at R3k a month to the fanatics and purists (they dont want/need input from anyone else)
5: set a % benchmark for trainers/jockeys to get to, those that fail need to get into banking or bricklaying or tipping

1000000000000000% correct. If you cannot give them COMPLETED at least 3 - 5 minutes before the off.... don't bother. And not for my benefit cos I can tip every single selection Laff will make today two HOURS before the racing... but for the tote punter.
