Hi. Please feel free to help me by explaining how you stake your bets. I tend to get a bit greedy and when I win its great but if I lose......

I used to be quite strict, but that was boring
Wish i had been as strict on my punting bankroll as i was my poker bankroll, google poker bankroll management and follow the same rules. If you are a serious punter and follow strict rules, then poker bankroll management would be ideal...

If I win I put the lot on the next fav and if I lose I borrow to get a bet on the next fav
Even at GA I had a bet with the councilor that I would not punt again .

ask our good friend ziets...the stratergy is simple, you just double your stake each time until you hit a winner....even if 10 horses go missing and you have to put down R5m on the 11th, it will eventually arrive...

First ask yourself how much you want to win. Make that amount your policy for ALL your punts - racing, boxing, soccer, etc.
Then divide your desired win by the odds - simple.
This way your size of your stake is commensurate with your risk. Forget the crap which is written in books.

I strongly wouldn't advise doubling your stake everytime you lose, google martingale strategy. It requires a massive bank roll and for bookies to have no limits, both not practical. In theory it returns a small profit, but that expected gain is normally cancelled out by the chance of a big loss if you go on a losing streak. Remember even if you "bet 5m on the 11th time and it arrives" by that stage you would have bet almost 10m to just win a couple thousand.
I tend to bet like Mac when taking only singles for a day. A lot of peolpe say keep your stake consistent when betting at level odds, espcially if you are having bank roll issues. When betting horses, with varying prices, on this system you stake more money on horses with a better chance to win and less on "higher odds" horses, your stake tends to reflects risk. It would be a lot better if odds were a more truer reflection of a horses chances of winning, but i guess there comes in the skill of finding value in races.

Correct Dave
I used the doubling up system in the casino on Roullette, black or rd...
I dropped a couple of Ks dt night. Its a. Stupid system imho..
Now I jus go with Cash.. No wallet or cards. N if I go with R500 I either lose it or win n walk away. Doubling up is dumb.
