Can someone please explain how the tote works? are the pools at ascot comingled?

I Played eachways on don't call me at 30/win 7/place and after my bet it changed to 9/win 1.4 a place. Sure in the bigger scheme of things my money cant influence the betting this much? Wasn't even a big bet?

Races with more than 20 runners are not commingled, local tote only. Hence, your bet could influence the price, though i suspect it was more a case of many like minded punters such as yourself spotting the potential value payout on the horse and placing their bets on it, and in the process, bringing down the payout to what you saw.v
