I actually don't think the price is out of line BUT if the regular was rewarded as you say Greg then he would feel "special" . What the Racing Clubs have never realized is that Owners, Trainers, etc that wear "badges" do so because the are entitled to feel "special" and enjoy that privilege. Give the regular punter his own "badge" and you'll have him for life(as long as it's tied to some privilege or loyalty program) - Hell look at the amount of people that wear COSATU and other similar T's when there is a strike. People love to be part of a club even if it is a club for losers(and sometimes winners)!!

The MET prices are also getting ridiculous, especially seen that you can barely walk on course cos its sooo full

When I was staying in Durban and should visit da course quite often let me tell you that the regulars are there even on Julu Day along with ticket sweepers who don't receive a cent for picking up your thrown away ticket !!!!

Melbourne Cup Day is $A75 (R500) Normal Saturday meetings in Melbourne are $10 (R 70)

To Me and this is just my Opinion ... All those that think R200 is afforable needs a re-think. Although it happens once a year and its the show case event for horse racing, it still leaves the most important question unanswered. What about the poor punter that makes the racecourse a little lively when all thre big boys are watching the tellycrap. They deserve some form of recognition. Why doesnt Gold Circle give a certain number of tickets to these people for Free... Surely it wouldnt put a dent in their pockets.

My feeling about this - why charge someone an entry fee at racecourse when they are coming to spend money.
It's the same gripe that I have with some casinos (in KZN, maybe elsewhere) that charge a car parking fee as well as a casino entrance fee. Their justification "Keeps the riff-raff away" :X>:D<

They don't even given you a single thing for R200,lots of people go to the july because of the hype of the great day and don't really know much about the horses so why not give them a race card or something..but then again gold circles all about making money

I actually don't think this is the case - Most of the people going are have ZERO interest in Racing(obviously as if they did Racing would be doing well) They are youngsters who want to look good and have a party (and have a bet maybe) I don't think GC should be expected to turn away profit and in today's economy R200 is really not a great deal of money in the greater scheme of things. If R200 is a lot of money then a person should really not be Gambling, As stated before I do see a great need for regular punters to be given some sort of loyalty or discount but if we want the Game to stay alive you cannot expect the company that hosts the most Prestigious and possibly the most important link to non-punters to give it away free. I bet you the place will be full as it always is and next week the crowds will be back to normal. GC have to exploit this asset as any business would - Supply and Demand
