There should be an inquiry launched into the race result. Have a look at the head on from the moment they turn into the home stretch and you will notice very easily that more than half the jockeys were simply punching out heir mounts while the horses that came anywhere had jockeys pushing and riding with vigor. It's obvious that a jockey of colour winning this year with Mr Mandela being so gravely ill was on the cards. Luckily I read it right and had a good punt on the winner.

have to agree with the statement.. Allot of jealous people out there. The july has a tradition behind it and will always be the most important social / sporting event in SA . I am shocked with this thread. Hibs the july will never ever loose appeal or become boring. Maybe the racing will but never the entire package. sometimes its better to change channels than to start a stupid thread like this.

And was Mandela on death's doorstep when Khumalo won his other big races this year? Maybe the wet going and slow pace was the cause for many of the other horses (drawn badly) not to show- Why did Tribal Dance - owned by a BLACK WOMAN not fight it out with the winner?

After 200m in every race half the field + with no chance, this is why sports betting is growing..

I entirely disagee JM. It is vitally important imo that they are discussed. If some think it is losing its "razzle" then it should be heard and acted on. Look at the FA Cup and more relevantly The Derby in the UK. 20 odd years ago these events were huge. They did not need advertising. There was a build up of tension to the big day(s) and an expectancy that was a joy to be around. Now, too much money. Too much emphasis on corporate entertainment. For example, just look at the empty seats after half time in the Cup Final. The events MUST imo retain their appeal to all, especially those who love the sport or what these events once were, and in some cases, perhaps still are, will soon be lost. Simply changing channel hastens such demise...

Hi

The 'July' is not my favourite race as I have never made money on it. No matter who tips and calls the race.

For the Horse loving people it has lost its glitter as the best Horses are nowadays being exported and do not run in the July nor in the other top races. Therefore for the purest all these races have lost that something and that is seeing the Çhampions in action in the flesh.

For the masses the Tradition of the July and the other major races remains IMO that is the partying as to them a Horse is a Horse as long as it has 4 legs and a shiny coat.

I salute all the Race callers as they are all doing a whole lot better than I could and a lot of the moaners on this site. If it is not the PE caller then it is the KZN or the Gauteng or Kimberly guy that gets flak. If U really think it is so bad my advice is to make use of the MUTE button, ah but then you will most probably not know which horse is first or last.
