IN his blog this month, Mike de Kock urges in-form jockey S’Manga Khumalo to set his sights on winning the South African Jockeys Title.

Mike writes:

I have been most impressed lately with the riding feats of jockey S’Manga Khumalo, so much so that I am dedicating this month’s blog to this up-and-coming young rider.

S’Manga Khumalo has quietly gone about his business in his eight years as a licensed jockey with an excellent average of 64 winners per season since 2005/6, his highest mark being 85 winners ridden in 2010/11.

S’Manga has been injured and on the sideline for weeks at a time, several times during his time as a fully-fledged rider, which makes this average even more commendable.READ THE FULL ARTICLE

I remember, about 7 or 8 years ago, when Steve Moffat called my attention to this young rider whom I hadnt yet noticed. In his opinion, Smango would be a top rider should he commit himself and get the breaks.

Steve has seldom been wrong and is an excellent judge in his own right and has been proven right here. I wish Smango every success. He is polite and has the ability.

For those that dont know, ABC poster, Justinv now does/has been doing his rides and with that kind of assistance, Smango can only succeed ! -D

Sure Justin does Raymond Danielsons rides as well?

Listened to Justin V interview with Lafferty last night and was greatly impressed with Justin's track record .I am sure that if he continues to guide Smango in the right direction,the race for the champion jockey title will be quite interesting next year.

sk needs to keep his feet on the ground and ensure all the success doesnt go to his head as so many sportsman before him have...he needs to be managed properly at all times so he can focus on his riding
