they used to have it back in the 70's and 80's but it was only available when they raced @ the Vaal with the JP.

Was a then Transvaal bet, similar to the Cape Quinpot. But methinks the quinpot was 5 legs.

I think bipot was also 5 legs

remember those days I had to bunk last 2 periods of school on Wednesdays to run to off course @ Newmarket to take bets before 1 o clock when they closed Was in Alberton Hoerskool,
could never catch the PA, even today my worst bet to take, but somehow i managed to catch a few Bi post, my strategy was to was to put 2 horses in each leg,, 5 legs, R32, i used to put the fav or 2nd fav and one outside,r.got some nice payouts i remember one i caught paid over R4000 and i had it twice, those days R8000 was a lot of money, you could buy a decent house for R50 000
yeah those were the days, spend 4-5 hours a day studying the Computaform and breeding, spend about an hour a day on school; stuff, still managed to pass matric twice i always tell my kids I have Honours degree in matric.

Clairwood once had a bet called "The Dual" it was an on course only bet and run in the J/Pot legs with the 1st and 2nd horses qualifying, my late Mom caught the only ticket once and collected around R400 which was a HUGE win considering she bankered Beau Art who was at that early stage of his career trained by Jackie Gorton and ridden by Johnny Barker...

I am pretty sure the bipot consisted of 6 legs. Was only offered at the Vaal and there was no p/a at the Vaal back then. In those days the Vaal was known as an "outsiders" course because of the many upsets. Jean Barnard ( Hemming ) ruled the roost in her day. The bipot was much harder to catch than the p/a but the dividends were great.
