Thanks to all for the wishes etc

Hibs, its just been hectic, having gone flat out, 7 days a week for a few months. With Lauren on crutches and with some extra horses in the yard, its been a long hard haul.

for example, finished track last wed, raced to OR Tambo, flew CT, changed, attended Parliamentary Committee, finished at 22h30, found a restaurant, back to hotel, up at 04h00 for 05h45 flight back, rushed Vaal worked main string and then to races.

Come Friday and my son flew me in to Inhambane, Moz, after track, for a few days break at Guinjata, fishing. Obviously, come Friday night around the fire overlooking the sea, I took no prisoners when it came to rehydrating the body with the usual Brandy and Tab. So, the babelas disguised the flu which hit me on Saturday am. But by sat pm, I knew that I had a bad case of flu. I could only self medicate with an anti bacterial type of anti biotic, so spent the weekend and mon, tues just sitting around, not fishing and feeling shocking. got back last night, eventually got doctors appointment tonight and started the meds.

As for Sam , he started with us as a novice groom some 12 years ago. When we stopped Training for 3 years to develop our other business (in order to fund our yard in the future), Sam worked for one or two Trainers and ended up with Lucky/JJ. When we announced our return, he gave Lucky a full month's notice and worked as hard as ever over there, before re joining us. Sam has been steadily molded to play a role in our yard and his recent promotion has been well earned. I am systematically teaching Sam every aspect of Training and we have a "monthly lesson" system, which we chalk up, as we go along. And Sam is not shy to make an effort. I am very proud of him.

Sorry you couldn't enjoy your trip as much as you should have. It is great that you are giving Sam an opportunity like that, well done. (tu)

Frodo i would be interested to see how you rate Miss K's yesterday's performance,...i'm most interested to see how the handicappers rate this one.....imo miss k will not win another handicap again...(nothing against the horse just ratings gone wrong i think)

Very difficult race to rate - only other possible line horse to use would be the recent maiden winner In My Secret Life - now if you believe she ran to the same rating of her maiden win, that would mean Miss K ran to around 81 ( I had her at 83 the previous run) so I think at 73 she was definitely too low - but I'm sor of a novice at this - rob faux could probably give a more accurate rating

it seems the handicappers agree with you cos they also gave Miss K a 81 and left In my secrete life unchanged (63) but they also gave River Trip a 81 after winning a Mr88 hcap beating hangfire (r87)....

time will tell but I have my my doubts
