Had a look at the card and here are my fancies - not as comprehensive as Englander and Frodo8-) assessments.

R1) I'm not convinced the race is as straight forward as the betting would suggest, 6/1 bar the favourite, I'll watch this race.

R2) I think Hallowed can win again. Seems to run well on the inside track and the market rivals, Counter Ridge and Unannounced, may need the runs and are clearly not in the best of form. The joker could be Lost Island.

R3) Despite the betting, I think Lighting Eye (11/2) is the horse to beat. This horse has improved each time in it's last three runs and the jockey booking says a lot. I think Maujean is the stable jockey, why isn't he riding? The favourite's exposed form is iffy, can't see any value there at 13/10. (At this point I put a motor cycle crash helmet on awaiting the eggs)

R4) I am strong on Desert Raptor (11/2). This horse seems to run well at tracks with a somewhat short straight (Greyville, Scottsville inner and Turffontein inner). When it hasn't won on these tracks, it's been close up in the finish, seriously:D, check it out for yourself. Another thing, it is a course and distance winner. Another thing, he has one or two beat on the Eastern Cobbler run. The favourite, Pivotal Pursuit (7/2), appears well weighted, but he's a one time winner and I'll take my chances with Desert Raptor. (Clanners have gone to fetch more eggs).

R5) Despite the betting, 7/10 - Admiral's Eye, I wouldn't rule out the chances of both Semra and Ash Cloud (Clanners send wife to corner shop to replenish eggs, this is more fun than picking a winner)

R6) Athina (3/1 in from 7/2) looks a progressive sort, can go very close if not in need of the run.

R7) Love Struck (15/10) looks hard to oppose.

At this point, hopefully I can show a profit or I'm clean out sobbing in my beer, getting ready to watch the rugby.

Break a leg.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Somewhat difficult card to access, here is my humble opinion:
Race 1: Two horses were heavily backed first time out Classic traveller and Twilight eclipse and the winner should arise between one of these. I also like the chances of Rainbow arrow and watch the betting on the Silvano newcomer Stirling leaves from the Marwing stable. A Race I would stay out.

Race 2 : I like Hallowed to win here with Forestation , The dissipel and Lost island to keep an eye on.
Race 3 : Two horse race between Nisa's love and Lightning eye, with peference to the latter.
Race 4 : Desert raptor my fancy to win it.Menacing and Kindle , Flaming force the horses to watch and not out of it.
Race 5: Although Semra win last a maiden, she looks to have scope for improvement as she beaten the second horse with 6.5 lenghts. De Kocks horses are all blooming over the 1600m and this looks to be her best distance and further. This Jet master filly looks above average.Ash cloud not out of it.
Race 6: How fit is Ilha Bela? Probably will need this run. A Very difficult race to access.I like Eskimo inn to give good account of herself. Watch betting on Ilha Bela.
Race 7: I'm only going to mention one horse "Love Struck" Very talented horse and should be hard to beat.
Race 8 : I like a real roughie here Torero dancer with Turnstone and Streetboucher next best. What about a horse called Barbel run!'"?
Race 9 : Sheppards warning should be hard to beat. Watch Sabre tooth and Strum. O' Brandewyn laat my staan"
Good luck to all of you and make buckets full of cash.
Ps: Did someone noticed that the whole P6 of Arlington were between the four choices of the Computer ratings!!!!

Race 6, Joburg Spring Fillies; #10 ATHINA; impressive penultimate start, weighted to win by 4.5; nap

Race 7, Joburg Spring Challenge; for me a bit of a dog's breakfast, top 3 in the betting are over-priced; how about a bit of ROYAL BENCHER but dont be breaking the bank.

Prosperous punting B)-
