How can any parent be happy that their "disciplined" kids are well behaved out of fear?
Disgusting imo

CM, a good post there and the age group part I think is very right. My Farther stopped smacking me on my backside before I turned ten. Only ever got hit there and at the time might not have enjoyed it but am glad he did. Taught me rules, and especially respect for my elders and other people and as I said I do agree with what he did. Would certainly make a better world if we had more respect and discipline.

Never ever hit me anywhere else and only with his open hand. Used to check the hand print in the mirror!

Wow Craig ,I keep agreeing with you...........my old man was damn strict, very fair and never spoke twice...but I never felt abused in any form!
As you suggest, I also find myself using nature as my "religion".........the most universal power and the only one with a lot of proof..........and no trees that hug people!!!!
