I am involved in private education for the past 25 years. Whilst generalising, I now know the following to be my truth based on my experience during this time. There is more likelihood of a kid having issues in a well off family than a kid coming from a poor family! There are NO bad kids but only parents who have failed their children! Parents are born with an advantage in that their children love them unconditionally from day one. Depending on how the parents treat their offspring, they will alter their perception of their parents. The biggest problem I have encountered is that too many children are born into dysfunctional homes i.e. there is an absence of one or both parents playing a role daily which results in a lack of discipline, morals and values.
it is not guaranteed that children will listen to their parents all the time. However, children will copy the behaviour of their parents or those that they spend lots of time with. Children need to be managed and this will vary from household to household. To me the issue is not about hitting. it is about managing. Most of all, our children do not feel loved and secure in their environment which opens up a whole new set of issues.
