Who should take first responsibility for racing a winning 5yo imported mare in a maiden race.? Surely not the importer. It's probably a big thing with brands and tattoos so the story how this happened must be good.
The other the day a captain of a yard sent the wrong horse, but the fact checker got fired. Seems like some people get held to a higher standard and Craig, you just assume whose fault this isnt.

JD, I want to know who brought the filly/mare at the time in. Did it race in Mr W Chow's colours over there? Was it bought over there and sold to Mike and Mr Chow over here? If so who bought it and sold it? Was Mike/ made aware that it had run? Did the past form come with the horse or was it lodged with the NHRA? All these questions need to be answered to find out who was to blame.

You kidding? All these are questions anybody would ask before a race.
I'm not sure what you getting at or what you trying to defend. What does it matter who owns a horse or how it got here?
You search on google and you find the horse was raced there and here by a Mr Chow. So what? How can a horse be lodged with the NHRA without it's past? All interesting questions, but who races a multiple winner in a maiden race? Or put it another way, how can one not know a horse is a multiple winner, it's not like 100's of horses flood in here.
To whom in this game have responsibilities to and for? Ask yourself what does matter here? I'm certainly not out to make things worse, but it's aggravating you just defend blindly instead of saying it's a mistake and we must try harder to not repeat these mistakes. Didn't a similar thing happen with Sheer Courage about a year ago?
I can't believe the trainers don't know the exact form of an imported horse in their yard. How can you not, it's ALL online, you can find it on your phone for pete's sake

The fact that it costs the racing operators over 40 million per year to keep these clowns in control is criminal. Please clean out the whole bunch of them and start again.Maybe import one of the top guys from the jockey club in the UK to train a new team.Out with sub standard control.

JD I am not defending anyone. It is wrong. What I want to know is who is in the wrong. Did the filly arrive at the yard with the form which she is supposed to. Was the stable told she was a maiden etc. That's what I want to know and am sure it came out in the inquiry. We on the same side and want answers but you just took off like I was saying it was fine. The buck has to stop somewhere and we both want to know where. Was it the Owner, importer, bloodstock agency, stable, NHRA, Shipping company etc. :S

Whatever the outcome is there is one thing that goes without saying and that is the fact that it was a genuine mistake on the stable's behalf and that there was nothing untoward or underhanded intended ....an unfortunate mistake with the emphasis on mistake..
Give everything but up!

......far too many of these mistakes getting through.....remember the Paul Matchete runner carded as a 1st timer had won a race in England and I think trainer was fined or charged with something.....then a precident has been set and MDK to blame.....however our officials need to get their house in order and check and scrutinze each and every entry with the data they record and capture in their own redundant records
.....those publication they do should be brought into this century as they still look like the National Party government gazette.....it must be made available digitally so that search and other computerised functions can be made available.....FFS they are funded to the hilt and are so badly equipped....WTF are they doing with the money....:

I do NOT buy this MISTAKE thing wtf a Multi Million Rand business run by ALL parties without any Management, Checks & Balances, like a backyard Mechanic. A mistake is like an accident, it does not happen by itself there is always persons doing the wrong thing or not doing the right thing or doing nothing that is the cause.
Who losses only the Punters and maybe scapegoat Employee, that are Responsible get off scott free.
Where is the TRANSPARENCY with all these questions are still un-answered, if it was not for ABC none of these 'RINGERS' would of been made public, now the question is if this is only the tip of the Iceberg.

The trainer is responsible but so too and more importantly as the watch dogs of the industry is the NHRA - An email to the Racing jurisdiction where the horse was domiciled before entering SA should be the norm. A "FORM CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE" , similar to what we find in Tax Clearance or Motor Car License renewal , should be the prerequisite before a foreign horse is allowed to run here. How do we know a two-year-old is not infact a three-year-old unless we check
