Some waffle...

R1 A weak field. Woodland Trade and Cresta de Tigre have both shown little on the turf and are drawn high but the breeding suggests that they could take a liking to the surface. Potential for a big shock as there are plenty others who make their debut on the surface and the best of them may be the Rugg and Miller runners, Mean Like Mom (rested 14 weeks and could be too short) and Parauque (first run). Of those with c experience, Secret Delight from a low draw may be the strongest contender and give the Human stable a rare chance of a cheque. Cresta de Tigre x Woodland Trade x Parauque x Secret Delight (2 x 4 x 14 x 3)

R2 Eye Of The World is never without a chance but does appear held of late. The Shams send two out, Here I Am is in fine form but is unplaced in 3 runs over this d and is not so well in at the weights as he was two runs back so, of the two, I prefer Captain Siderius who won his only c/d run by 8l and has won his last three at 1800, though that does of course mean he is on the Magi-avoid-at-all-costs 4-timer. After two disappointing runs, Silly Mid-On bounced back to form lto and boasts a 3-2-2 record in 8 c/d runs. Any of the aforementioned could well win but my tentative vote goes to Kingofmountain who, although beaten by EOTW and HIA in his last two, has a good draw in 2 and is better off at the weights with HIA. Kingofmountain x Silly Mid-On x Captain Siderius x Eye Of The World (2 x 6 x 3 x 1)

R3 Poor field and a lot of questions to answer. Jacobus Maximus faded over c/d before staying on over 1600 and could be worth chancing again over the 1800 in this moderate field. Ilisabetta has yet to try this far but has a chance if she stays. Naidoo has been good on the c recently and sends Save Me Sam out on the surface for the first time but there is nothing to suggest his poor turf form will suddenly improve on the sand. The same can be said of Amber Ace who makes his debut for the Miller stable and on the sand. Reserved Lady has a second from her two c/d runs but has only one other top 3 finish in a total of 13 c runs. Katanga is inconsistent and has been poor in her last two, has a chance if at her best but also has the widest draw. Aspen Tree makes her sand debut and with Gunter up on Ilisabetta is seemingly not the Sham stable elect. That said, imo she was better on the turf than her bare form suggests, consistently having been drawn wide and the breeding implies she may enjoy the sand. In this poor field I'll take a chance on her doing so. Aspen Tree x Jacobus Maximus x Ilisabetta x Reserved Lady (10 x 1 x 8 x 7)

R4 Main like on the day scratched as no transport, terrific! 8-) King Air was much improved last time over 2200. He does look held on prior form over this d but if repeating that lto effort then he could well be a strong contender here. Que Sera Sera has been running consistently and has been close a number of times recently to collecting his second career win, must again have a chance of doing so here. Familiar Chat and Billy's Legacy are the standard inconsistent runners from the punter friendly stable and either could win if they have been particularly tuned up for this race, Muzi rides the former. Que Sera Sera x King Air x Familiar Chat (5 x 2 x 1 x 3)

R5 Foam Party is another Miller and c debutant and if taking to the surface is likely to be a big runner. No guarantee that will be the case though. The rest appear to have, for the most part, pretty mediocre form of late. The exception being Desert Breeze who has been improving on the surface and holds a few of these from his win lto over 1600. He has finished second 3 times in 6 d runs on the turf and though up in the weights, he looks like the likely winner if FP does not take to the surface.. If both fail to fire then it looks an open contest with, in order of preference, Gemma, Silken Sea, Ice Kitten, Blushing Grey all having a chance. Desert Breeze x Foam Party x Gemma x Silken Sea (1 x 2 x 5 x 9)

R6 A second Sham horse on a 4-timer and this time I find it hard to oppose Hlamba given her recent form. That said, King Of The Castle may be better than he has shown since his maiden win and might provide some value for a small e/w. All The Ones could make up the trifecta and Milkwood Manor may finish best of the Rugg runners. None without a chance though and in particular, Miesque's Critic could feature. Hlamba x King Of The Castle x All The Ones x Milkwood Manor (1 x 5 x 3 x 6)

R7 Another with a few obvious candidates, the main four being closely matched on previous form. Memghar is yet another Visser representative that seems to suffer from huge form swings. If at his best then he is a definite contender and may be worth a small investment if a decent price but, it is of course just as possible that he will finish 5l last as it is that he could win by the same margin. Winter Frost has come good recently and goes for his third successive win and must have a decent chance. Derbaas though has a 2kg pull for a 1l defeat and he in turn is closely matched with Wind At Your Back and Shark Attack. I think the winner will come from that group but it really could be in any order. Mine... Wind At Your Back x Derbaas x Shark Attack x Winter Frost (3 x 5 x 7 x 1)

R8 For me another race where a number of runners simply should not win but, the main protagonists are closely matched. Fort Knox and Liquid Ice both have a chance but come off long rests and could well need the run. Two other Sham runners, Baby Tjoklits and Sunley Simola have outside chances but Gunter is up on FK. Rebel Assault had two decent runs prior to jumping awkwardly and never getting into the race lto but does appear held at the weights and for me it is likely to come down to another close fight between Badi and Tripartite, I'm sure Sherman won't wish to upset Mr Rugg so... Badi x Tripartite x Rebel Assault x Baby Tjoklits (4 x 1 x 5 x 6)

R9 Tough end to the day. The Visser's have two contenders both who have a chance but both have questions hanging over them. Wings Of An Angel, though in decent recent form over 1400 and 1600, drops to a trip he was well beaten over in his only attempt over c/d and has an overall d record of 2-0-0 in 12 attempts. Sweet Latte also usually runs over further, she has not finished in the top 3 in her 2 d runs, and returns from a 19 week rest. As ever, if either has been tuned up for the race then they will be in with a big chance. The interesting runner for me is Zero South. Rested 27 weeks since getting up late to win her maiden over 1000 on c debut, the appie gives her a very light weight here and if fit then she has to have a chance. Kate's Emblem is another who returns from a rest, having been off 12 weeks. Again, if ready then has a definite chance. Both ZS and KE have relatively high draws. Others also have chances if producing their best and it is not a race I have much confidence in my final choice... Zero South x Kate's Emblem x Wings Of An Angel x Sweet Latte (7 x 2 x 1 x 3)

Be(s)t of luck to all (tu)

Hi Guys
Englander jottings is so perfect, but let me also give me likings just to help you futher. A Nice card:
Race 1: This is a rather weak field and I'm going with a first timer here to win it. I always like Black Minnouloushe as a sire( one of my favourites). Parauque no 14 ( cost R120000). Mean like Mom no 8 looks second best with no 3 Secret Delight. The value bet in this race look like no 11 Lady Lana : 14x8x3x11
Race 2: My blue - eyed boy no 3 Captain Siderius will make amends again. Dorrie I like this horse!!! I believe between 1600 and 1800m just a formality. He will make it four in a row!!! The other Sham runner no 4 to run second and ,
No 1 Eye of the World and no 2 King of the Mountain to follow: 3x4x1x2
Race 3: I like no7 Reserved Lady to win this. Jacobus Maximus no 1 must improve now and is not without a chance. Amber Ace no 6 also do has a line in the water. The value bet is no 9 Katanga: 7x1x6x9
Race 4: No 2 Que sera sera is a very consistant induvidual and I believe will get it right to win. Familiar Chat no 3 take a drop in class and this will bring this horse right in the middle of the play. Kings air no 1 looks interesting enough not to be overlooked. However no 5 Woodland Fire and no 6 Billy Legacy are also in the mix. Play a bit wide
2x3x1x5x6
Race 5: In this race no 1 Desert Breeze looks like a banker bet - shown class and destined to follow up. No 7 Cadilac Baby can run second and my my value bet in this race no 8 Ice Kitten.
1x7x8
Race 6: Hlamba no 1 do rises in class will still hard to beat. Her latest form is brilliant and is a easy first choice. No 4 Miesque critic is next best and my value bet in this race is no 6 Milkwood Manor. It taken a long time for this horse to find its feet and is now ready to fire on all sylinders.
1x 6 x4
Race 7: a few horses make strong appeal here. I narrowed it down to two horses to fight it out No 1 Winter Frost and no 3 Wind at your Back. No 7 Shark Attack will be there when they greet the Judge. My value bet No 5 Derbaas can surprise them all!!
1x3x7x5
Race 8: No 1 Tripartite must pick up its feet to win no 4 Badi - a speedy sort . No 3 Liquid Ice do have scope for improvement and return to its favourite distance( be aware) My value bet in the race is no 5 Rebel Assault - The dark horse in the race!!!
4x5x1x3
Race 9: No 1 Wings of an Angel is very consistant and will not be beaten out of the winners box without a fight. No 4 Gypsy Fair will pick up the pieces when Wings of an Angel fails. However no 2 Kates Emblem is better suited to this trip and do has the ability to nice improvement. No 3 Sweet Latte and no 8 Countess Kate ( in and out sort) both my value bets in the race.
1x4x2x3x8
My best bets:
Race 2: Captain Siderius xxxxx
Race 5: Desert Breeze xxxxx
Race 6: Hlamba xxxx
Horses to watch out for:
Race 1: Parauque
Race 3: Familiar chat
Race 6: Milkwood manor
Race 7: Derbaas
Race 8: Rebel Assault
Race 9: Kates Emblem
Play well and hit them hard with a baseball bat!!!

In race 3 one trainer has three runners, merit ratings are 20. 35. 46 their form is shocking, what goes through some owners minds? Can anybody possibly think they could make money with stakes? Rather spend the training fee to organise good homes for them instead of watching them breakdown. Seeing a field with horses who obviously dont/cannot run really puts me off kimberly.

True Batman, but I think it is the only centre they can run these horses.
