The best horse doesn't always win the race.

Surely Ignition LADY will set the recors straight. Real ability. Clumsy mix-up. Transcend controversy?

According to the Card Changes I see that van Niekerk has been taken off some off his rides for the Bass stable, anyone knows why?
Some sort of balls-up, I assume - according to the final report van Niekerk is riding as carded.
Some thoughts from a 'visiting player':
R2: Firstly I think a big thumbs down to whoever is responsible for not highlighting the fact that Ignition Lady is actually a winner - I'm sure most players who do not follow Cape Town racing regularly may be unaware of this fact and assume that she is a first timer (td) That being said, I don't think the form of that win is that strong - she just beat Abyssiniam who proceeded to finish more than 6 lengths behind Al's Bonanza next time out; Ravishing Jewel finished only 3.25 lengths behind AB in her pinultimate so I don't think Ignition Lady is any value at 9/4; this probably makes Shamsiya hard to beat (finishing in fornt of a subsequent winner last time out), but for me the value lies with Ravishing Jewel, while Can Cope could improve to feature after a fair debut
R3: This looks a race between Albert's Gem, Emma de Lago (Justin hinting this morning on USO that they were hoping to go close) and Speedy Chestnut (Brett Crawford also very bullish on USO on her chances); maybe at the odds EdL the right one
R4: Not sure how fit Silver Image is, but if ready he could be the right one - 3 lengths behind de Kock looks good enough for me in this field - I'm not that keen on Mountain Master (probably will be ducking eggs again); also not convinced about Stratocruiser (or anything else) - won't be surprised if something upsets the apple cart here :S
R5: Another competitive looking race; for some value I'm looking at Silver Bluff and Sunday Sun to feature, but not impossible that both could finish unplaced behind the likes of Captain's Reserve, Tiger Tiger, On the Nod, Juddering Angel and Tell Me More.
R6: Marathon event where it looks tough again; Cigar Boy has been knocking at the door and the blinkers may get him there today; Abercrombie, the in-form Posh Boy and the consistent Tippuana Moon (although out at the weights) look the main dangers.
R7: The main event where the question about whether the Gauteng runners are up to the Cape stars will be answered; would come as a surprise to me if the winner does not come from Forest Indigo (draw statistics still show 7/52 winners from draw 14 over this trip), Red Ray, Whistle Stop and Captain America; having raced Gap Year (dam of Whistle Stop) I will be shouting him home
R8: Conditions race that looks to be at King of Pain's mercy after a very good second last time (finishing in front of Beach Beauty); he was beaten by both Lake Arthur and Big City Angel in his first run after gelding - but that was over 1400 and he was drawn 13 out of 13, so even though Big City Angel gets a pull at the weights today, I think KoP will still hold BCA (especially as BCA is drawn wide and the van Zyl stable has not exactly been firing on all cylinders recently in the Cape); Lake Arthur has never won over 1600, so again I prefer KoP to him today. Most of the others look to have some sort of place chance, especially the consistent South Kensington and Louvre (wide draw, but has early speed, so should overcome the draw to race handy) - but on a competitive card I think one could do worse that row in witk KoP as a P6 banker
R9: Fillies and mares handicap to close and this is a nightmare; for my PA I'm loading up; Lady Kelpie, Showdown, Mohave Princess, Full Regalia, Careful Hiker and Black Flame should hopefully be enough
Enjoy (tu)
