What did I learn from this" program to explain".......well nothing I didn't know before including that "P" is not honest in its media releases :
It was previously reported that this entire issue was caused by the overseas partners. Bruss started from that premise and Stuart backtracked completely.
It is logical that bookmakers should be making a greater contribution to local racing and I also believe that pool type bets should've restricted to the tote but bookmakers must be delighted that their opponents are a bunch of clowns.......this is the lot who could not convince a court that a even a jackpot or a PA are not a fixed price product-WTF
I wonder how they will handle " this is our TV channel and we can sell it to who we like at our price-buyers have the choice of pay or go without"......just like any other service!

Soodum
6 bars..
Any reason why.
Maybe , top heavy management, too many staff members.
Not enough punting revenue.
Seriously, CT is the playground for the rich and famous.
They breed the best horses. Was told by the diehards that the divorce from GC was the best thing to happen.
Size of fields would increase.
The 6 bar story has to be a figure from the GC time.

Probably the same for Phum & GC as well.
Not knowing the Bookies view what I learnt, if figures quoted are TRUE, is that the Bookies have been getting an almost free ride and dicussions have been on-going for 14 years, WITHOUT BEING RESOLVED. To me this is indicative that neither party are willing nor able to sort this out. Why has it now become URGENT even to the extent of Court cases. Are Bookies (some say Accountants) really parasites and/or are the Operators not doing the same thing.
After being kept in the dark for SOOOO LONG we are now asked for input, after the S--- has hit the fan. I will wait in anticipation to see what the Submissions of both parties in the Court case are before commenting.
I just HOPE that this great Sport will not get totally ruined by this fight.

A couple of points of order - The talking heads continually refer to 'what the bookies pay' towards the cost of racing. Other than the monthly payment for Tellytrack they actually pay NOTHING at all. They simply collect FROM THE PUNTERS' WINNING BETS an amount of 6% of which 3% is paid to the operator. So it is actually the punter who makes these contributions with the bookmaker simply playing the role of collection agent.
Where I differ diametrically from the operator on this issue is with regard to their contention that Tellytrack should make a profit. Why? Tellytrack has no purpose other than to induce punters into wagering - from which they earn revenue varying from 3% from bookmakers up to 25% plus on exotics and soccer bets. Is it not the operator who has repeatedly stated that Tellytrack is a BETTING CHANNEL? Make up your minds, boys.
The operator seems blissfully ignorant of the implications of the following scenario - take away or strangle the picture for whatever reasons and turnover will fall through the floor. Introduce additional costs and inconvenience ( another decoder? forget it! ) for me to see the event and I will simply turn it up. Happily I have plenty of alternative options - not least being sports betting which comes to me in glorious HD virtually 24/7 and without a whole raft of mealie mouthed, cringeworthy presenters.
And what, if I may ask, might the operator have available for 'investing' in the sport if no dividends were paid to shareholders and Phumelela was simply a private company?
