Two questions
1) isn't this a monopoly?
2) TT claims they owe intellectual rights to the product, but if it was not for the owner who bring a horse to race they will not have a product to sell, so what about the owners intellectual rights on the horse that is his property, doesn't the owner have any rights?

Is the operator also going to pay 3 % of turnover to the PSL, EPL, La Liga and all the football league fixtures they use for soccer bets, If I was the PSL I would demand my 3% of R5M every week as it is my intellectual property.

that show was a complete waste of time.anyone with half a brain will know that this decoder business has got nothing to do with extra costs or what bookies contribute to racing or whether tt should make a profit or not or whether wc racing is running at a loss, these are all reasons given by phum when it was originally said it was overseas people wanting more revenue.lol.that clown from cape was being used as a scapegoat talking abt losses and he didnt even know he was only being used,no one mentioned the punters who are getting the raw deal again even tho without the punter there will be no racing because the punter funds the whole game whether by betting with the bookies or the tote.
the bottom line is phum wants the bookies to pay more to running the game so that phum can make more money and pay more money to their shareholders.that is the crux of the matter and anyone or any other reasons given is all a case of smoke and mirrors to fool the punters and lets not forget that if phum carry on with their threat, they will in fact be responsible for losing punters and in the process revenue all because they cant get over the fact they lost their court case against the open bet.
i think the bookies are way to smart for these clowns at phum and the bookies will win this court case as well starting on tues.

Totally agree that Tellytrack is not there to make a profit. It is a promotional and advertising service provided for racing followers to bet and its costs should be in an appropriate PR/Marketing Budget.
Was not totally convinced that the "Chair" was unbiased and no representation from Punters, who are integral to Operators existence .
No Bookmakers representation from either.
I notice that "decoder"was only casually mentioned in Bruss summing up.
The Operators fees increase was coming from a low to a very high base, which naturally was resisted by Bookmakers. There is an obvious requirement for a larger input but this whole scenario could be tied up in court for some time.

I would be very interested in the basis of the bookmakers injunction..................if the operators "own" the broadcast I would have thought that they can supply it to whoever at their own pricing................the buyer obviously has the right to buy or reject!
Lets hope they handle it better than the "open bet" case.
Whilst I agree that Tellytrack is an advertising medium and profit should not be the criteria, surely bookmakers should contribute proportionately to costs , as they benefit similarly.

A week ago there was a program on BBC E called under cover boss, and it was a company called Paddy Power a betting and gambling site, one of the bosses was taking calls in the call center ,he did every thing to make the customer happy ,even if the customer was wrong, they were so worried not to lose one customer ,they treat the customer so well, but I see in S A we don't care what customers say,the only bookie that has ever given me something is Hollywood on your birthday the send you a gift voucher and wish you,so well done Hollywood ,I only play with them.
