The forcast this morning looks bad on Day 1 and 2 but other than Day 5 should be alright. They can catch up on lost play by starting early on Day 3,4,5. My play would be wait for the bad weather and the draw to shorten and then back a result.

I see there is some doubt about Alviro Petersen - apparently is suffering from a viral infection :S

Heard that De Kock will open with Smith.

Would not be ideal imo - if he's going to be the wickey as well, I'd like to see him bat down the order

Don't believe the "viral infection"...he needs to be dropped and this is a face-saving way of doing so...and de Kock cannot play as keeper without getting up the back of the pro-Tsolekile camp...they can't seem to understand that you need a keeper that can bat and as consistently good as Tsolekile's first class batting has been in the last 18 months, when matched up against de Villiers, it is a poor comparison...
Either way, problems ahead...build the team around Amla, de Villiers, Steyn, Philander and Abbott and in a year we will be beating teams consistently again...the batsmen and bowlers that make up the rest of the team cannot do worse than the others that have been carried for some time...when a team wins, it is easy for the under-performing players to "hide" in that they are part of a winning team and there isn't incentive to change..when a team loses, the under-performing players sink to the bottom like the lead weights they are...

The " Johnson fear factor."
Only AB played him like a true proffesional. If the others do not come to terms with him,we will again be ripped apart by their bowling attack.
Aussie batsman full of confidence and our bowlers must fire.

Attack Johnson, don't let him settle, mess with his rythym n half game iswon.
I for one will be happy2 c De Kok open as with his natural attack instinct I am hopinh he dispatches Johnson to the fence a few times and mk him rethink his strategy. Sometimes, esp in TEST cricket, grinding doesn't help a batting team against a bowlwer who is in the form of his life. You don't put him under pressure, his rythm stays in tact and u are done for.

Wouldn't give De Kock the gloves. He is not a good enough gloveman at this level. I have seen him put down some sitters.

I see Elgar opening De Kock at 7 and Parnell in for Peterson. Looks a more balanced side.
Overcast but no rain at the moment. First session will be key.

Well we won the toss and will be batting - looks like Elgar will open with Smith, de Kock in the middle order and Parnell in as well

Oh dear Elgar opening? That's two quick wickets to Johnson in the first few overs
