Tahir bowls at least one boundary ball an over and in a slow / low scoring match like this because of the wicket, unless we have a spinner that is going to get you 4-5 wickets a match, luxury we cannot afford...I'd take a fast bowler that can take 3-4 wickets a match with possible reverse-swing on an abrasive wicket...

I see that Duminy has scored a few runs this morning...another instance of keeping some-one in the team long enough for them to make a half-decent contribution so that it prolongs their and our agony longer...

Just the style of Tahir's bowling will always make him an attacking bowler. We all know he bowls the odd bad ball, but i see nothing wrong, in a low scoring match, having a boundary rider on both sides for him. Thta will make his bad balls into 1 or 2's and not 4's. I still maintain he should have played in this test.

Thanks Shrek. I had a good bet on a draw for this test match this morning before play started. Got 13/10

With tropical storm moving south from Mozambique (heavy rain in Ballito this morning), hope sufficient overs (Marshall's has 350 overs minimum) bowled to qualify for draw...

Not much rain predicted for the weekend in PE. Would be very surprised if less than 350 overs were bowled.

appears that patience is the key here. I hope that the Aussies don't learn from the way these 2 are playing.

Pace at which SA are batting is suiting Aus in terms of taking time out of the match...result still possible if we get to 350-400+ and have +-100 run lead after first innings...going to take a massive bowling effort though...maybe we'll pick a ball that swings / seams more than the ones the Aussies have picked...

in their last 6 matches the Aussies have played on tracks that suit them. Not this one and I can see SA getting them out cheaply. This pitch is imo taylor made for Philander plus he has the over head conditions. So get to around 420 declare and have 20 overs at them
