Off to CT we go - CTS BOOK 2
11 years 2 months ago
We leave on Wednesday afternoon and start the search on thursday, with some 140 odd horses on the list to inspect. Will post interesting things from down there and also some fancies, as we go along.

Think you will find plenty of 'bargains' - not so sure how those will turn out though - poor catalogue imo - but I suppose if you like something on conformation, you might get it at a 'reasonable' price :S

You may be right ....very slim pickings indeed....was hoping that there would be a gem or two and at a bargain.... not attractive at all....considering that National sales are just a month later and packed with potential.....

Surely nobody will be buying horses with the current Tellytrack debacle ? How will his mates see the lead in or his winning interview ?

Breeders will soon be winding down their stallion assets through attrition. No confidence for the future.

I declare my interest- I have 8 on this sale. You will not find many from the top 5 sires here, but there are a host of exciting first and second year sires with good stock and also nice horses from the next tier of value sires. The bonus is the ticket to the $1m race. We did our entries for this sale before that incentive was announced. As stated by Karel Miedema in Sporting Post, this sale has effectively become a combination of the previous Vintage and Goodwood sales. There will be one or two champions to be found (think Pocket Power; Jay Peg; Sun Classique; Kochka) and many decent, value for money horses. Eg: I bought Omaticaya for R80k at this sale in 2012- she is now worth 10x that price. I had Sabre Tooth for sale- no bids received. He fetched R280k at the Ready to Run, and has won 2 of 6 races. There are great pin- hooking opportunities at this sale for resale on Ready to Run.
Last year, I looked at every horse on this sale, and while there were perhaps 20% that I put a line through, there was great value to be had.
Not too many have run yet from 2013, but a few I have noticed:
In Limine. R60k placed on debut
Cotton Hill R300k. Winner 2nd start. Looks potentially a very smart horse.
Paradise Horse. 70k placed 3x from 4 starts
Lietuva R60k placed on debut
Olympian R70k. Win and 2 places from 4 starts
Tygerhoogte R70k placed second start.

A ticket for USD 1 mill race should make everyone have interest....remember a horse doesnt know its price...Ask JJ THE JET PLANE!
