A few Melbourne Cups' ago Aiden O'Brien had not one but two pacemakers in the race and they did just that but both faded in the straight. The Australian stipes saw this as very strange and fined O'Brien. If trainers get fined for this why don't jockeys also get fined rather than suspended?

Feels like that they are swinging a mallet at an ant...always harsh when a person loses their livelihood just because some-one decides that this is the example that need be set (to show how tough we are and to negate the perception of leniency shown for past indiscretions...)

It always surprises me how a less severe transgression is penalised harshly to compensate for severe transgressions that were not dealt with properly...shocking...

Can someone explain this sentence? Soumillon confirmed Cosgrove did what was required by the stable.
