Anaerobia wasn't used as a pace maker, hewas used as a pace slower to make sure Vercingetorix stays the trip, coz there are doubts about his stamina, if I'm nt mistaken

Whatever the tactics are, Cosgrave gave every sign that he was as concerned about doing right by the stable companion as he was securing the best finish for his own mount.
A while ago a shrewd friend called me and said he was going to back the pacemaker in a big race in Dubai because he thought it would relish the extra ground it was going and he said they won't catch it because it won't stop. He was right and we won a bit as it happened. Luckily the rider didn't look behind, never came off the rail and went for glory to win nicely.
I know that stables can sacrifice couplings, but it does aggravate me when it becomes obvious that the intention is to not win as opposed to an intention to make the race true but still win it if you can.
I imagine now that we have uncoupled runners in Pick 6's as well, sacrifices in Gr 1 races will be interesting as we go forward...best that the bloke in front not look behind more than once.

I think that you are partly right......pacing can mean both.......also positioning .....keeping your stablemate in a pocket or box seat.......providing cover......Cosgrave was unfortunately a bit too blatant in exposing the tactic moving off the rail and making a clear run for the winner........penalty a bit harsh though.....but stipes may be looking to stamp out this practice.......one has got to think that would the same penalty apply if it were the Godolphin outfit trying the same thing......:

100% correct, often the same horse and the jockey on the pacemaker would often look thru' his legs to monitor Frankel's position in the race.

Question for those more in the know than me [ basically everybody ]
Giant's Causeway in the 2000 Juddmonte International makes clear use of team orders.
If one assumes [ for the sake of the argument ] that there was a deliberate attempt to give your stable-mate a gap, why was that not banned like this one was?
Also - like Rowdy mentioned, Bullet Train did the same thing for Frankel several times....was it a coincidence that Bullet Train's last race also happened to be Frankel's last race?
