nobody can give 100% attention to detail if you have so many horses....

Pots and kettles...;)...but seriously I have been a 2nd hand recipient of one of these big stable SMS that is sent to their owners..... and I wonder sometimes if they really know what they are doing or are they middling the owner along with the racing public .....:S

If that was the case the small yards would win all the grade 1's or even a race

MDK, Tarry and Snaith I think fall into the "Big Stable" category and seem to be coping fairly well...

The best horse doesn't always win the race.

Big stables in PE will always have a problem keeping all their owners happy, they race once a week and without satellite yards have to find races AND produce results all the time...there is a big difference having say 150 horses in PE as opposed to 250 horses spread around various jurisdictions, with various satellite yards spread throughout the country a trainer can have a bad meeting with no winners but still end up with a good week, in PE a bad meeting equates to a bad week and unhappy owners....

Then Phumelela still offer open yards to satellite yards instead of offering to local trainers that have small strings to allow PE trainers to build there sting to 60 horses. They forget who helped makeit a success .

The bigger the yard, the bigger the training staff. Makes the big string more managable.

Fact. Devote a subbie to 20 horses and see what your results will be.

Small stable will always have far more intimate knowledge of your horse
