PE does not warrant such big yards because we only race 6 or 7 times a month and there are more trainers here than ever before. Our local conditions state that each local trainer can get 2 guaranteed runners in the maidens, and one guaranteed runner in MR handicaps. There are already more trainers than that here and the influx of satellite yards makes it even harder to get into races.

Dave, there isn't enough money in the stakes pot to keep that many meetings going unfortunately.....

Whoever wrote the original post is on the right track though...everyone is out to win whether it is with the favorite or the 50/1 shot. Same amount goes to the trainer....help us fight by contacting me.

Hello again,

Thank you for the post on the forum.

The content of my letter is factual. It in no way criticises any Trainers training skills, and as far as I'm concerned is not up for debate.

Owners of "mediocre" horses are entitled to keep their horse(s) in training for as long as they wish, ....for whatever their reason! Just saying!

The questions that I hope will still be answered are:

Are Greeff and Smith (used as examples for all large yards) expected to run only their best prospect in each race? Are they expected to leave their mediocre horses in their stable? Are trainers of large yeards expected to manage their yards according to the expectations of the punter, or in the best interest of their horses, clients, and staff?

Put aside criticising my comments (factual) for now, stop reading what you want to read into my comments, and answer the direct questions!

Thank you.

Its South Africa you talking about, far too much work and organisation and not enough time to BBQ, drink and pomp

Perhaps a question for pe trainers (shams) as I am not sure others from pe are on here. If you happen to have 2 runners in the same race and you know from the work at the yard that one is much better than the other do you inform both owners of your opinion? If so does the owner of the supposed lesser horse have a say in whether you run it or not?
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

SA stakes money in the big meetings don't come close to what they are for the UK big meetings

training fees here are astronomical. Vet fees even worse, as my dog had an ear infection I took him along to the vet. He looked into his ear and cleaned it then gave me a small bottle of drops and ear cleaner. I paid £51 for a 5 minute visit. I cant begin to imagine how much the vets charge to treat a race horse
