Who said anything about being sinister :S sure he may be a great guy but the punter lost out cause of his neglect.

Greg your criticism is 100% correct bud nobody can deny that, but a mistake is a mistake and cant be changed. Im positive it wont ever happen again to him.

hi neigh ..nice win yesterday...but like greg said...its the punters that are paying for his mistake.....why should the punters pay for a mistake that was not in control of the punters....i took out Berthe out the pa..and went out...2400 times pa...had i left Berthe in...it would have been 1200 times...close on 130 k..granted the dividend would have been a lot lower...i would have been gutted if i were to bear the brunt of the mistake...i dont know what the solution is....but i wonder how a counter sue first against forbes and then against gold circle...would have stood up in a case of law...look i'm not having a go at Forbes..as i would have applied the same criteria to who ever the jockey is.....we south africans are just too tolerent and forgiving

I had a horse run 5th in a race a few years ago, Gavin Howes hid weights in a pot plant on a horse that finished in front of mine, lost the qtet, was eventually paid the fourth place stake cheque as the horse Howes was riding was stripped of its place money, but the result stood on the night. All i am saying is that i do not beleive that there was anything sinister in Alec's mistake.
This being said i do not disagree that it is the punter that is affected but more controls & procedures need to be put in place to ensure that this does not happen by GC & PR.
A few years back Karl Nesius did not weigh in after a race at Greyville when the scales were in front of the race track because he said that he felt afraid as some of the punters were mouthing off at him. He was on a 9/10 favourite that finished second....... deduction in all pay-outs as the horse was declared a non-runner. Why was he allowed to just not weigh in? What ever the reason may or may not have been GC should not have allowed this.
We are light years away from proper controls in racing, if anyone has raced in Hong Kong you would realise that it is a well run machine because the racing authority has rules & procedures that are extensive and well managed.
