Weighed out with his body protector in his hand. Put it down and forgot to put it back on under his colours I hear. Nothing sinister.

Surely this very important bit of equipment is of paramount importance in the event of an injury should it happen and insurance claims are instituted. Jockeys are compelled to wear it even at training gallops. Talking from the pocket think I should claim my 48 times PA from a very negligent jockey.

Intolerant se voet. You cannot be this negligent in this multi million rand business. Wonder how many punters lost big time? Remember a now senior jockey in Cape Town was caught tring to hide this protective gear behind the bushes at the start at Durbanville.

I've been noticing for a while now how often, in comparison to other riders, he gets unseated either on the way to post or behind the pens, and his mount gets loose. If I'm not mistaken, he had a lengthy spell out of the saddle while still with Drier recovering from a bad fall, and I wonder if the severity of that injury hasn't messed with his confidence. It's a pity, because it took him a long time to finally get opportunities from decent yards coming his way. Today's incident won't help his cause
