Interviewing Grooms on TT

This whole moment during post race interviews is uncomfortable and embarrassing on our society and racing culture. Open, delightful interviews with rider, trainer and owner. Then the presenter looks and seethes with uncertainty and keen avoidance, unsure to interview or not with the groom. Bar, Vicky Minot who makes an effort to interview in vernacular language, the most others battle. There surely has to be better solution. Perhaps the interviewer finds out beforehand if the groom is conversant in English or not. If not, the interview can simply allow the groom an opportunity to say a few words, even in vernacular language. To blanket cold decide that the presenter will not interview a groom is an insult and false assumption on some who could or would want to even in vernacular. Look at yesterday's big race day interviews. When given a skinny glass and envelope with cash in it (not sure how much?), the groom is hushed/ ushered away with seeming passive aggressiveness. This moment comes a cross elitist and dare I say, racist. The totes full of small punters, mostly black, will surely appreciate the gesture/ inclusion. Your thoughts...

Agree fully. Just watched the replays again and it is cringeworthy. Goes down to bad planning again because if we can see it can the people who have the say not see it?
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

If the interview is going to be rushed as always then rather not do it.Another point to note is that i have never seen grooms interviewed elswhere in the world. This leads me to believe that it is done here purely to attract more players from a certain target market and hence it should be done with more thought.

Should have let the winning grooms have something to say in interview.

I had the problem with te grooms now for years!! I cannot believe that we still give the winning groom of a big race a glass with a cheque in it . It sometimes even looks like a beer glass. Eish every groom don't drink. Anyway why cannot we present the groom with a proper trophy so that he can also one day reflect on what he had achieved in his life or must he look at a few beer glasses in his cabinet. Money don't last gents, ask the owners, trainers and jocks but the trophy will there forever.

I will bet 99.9% would rather have the cash - To be fair all Graded races should at least come with a generic trophy also - They guys deserve at least that much
