Without some solid proof either way, I'd say the jury is still out - I'm not convinced either way.
In general I think a real challenging card; the 5th which should be the easiest race (being a set weights race) is complicated for me in that I don't believe that either Pylon nor Uncle Tommy ran to 121 last time - in fact a few runs ago UT was beaten by Across the Ice and is now worse off at the weights; throw in Formation who has 5 wins and 4 places form 9 starts over this trip (and on collateral form there is not much between her and Across the Ice); then there is Shadow Line who really won in a canter last time (running to around 107 imo) - can't be ignored - a fascinating contest, but unfortunately not an easy race to predict.
I know I said earlier that the 7th looks a nightmare, but on a very tough card, this could in fact be the race to cut down - Strydom and Lerena to hopefully fight it out on Wishful Heart and Velddrifter
Enjoy (tu)

The horse with the most scope in this field...the rest are all battling long-time maidens...hence my best bet...also Laird's only runner for the day and brings his stable jock down to ride it as well...so all positive signs. (tu)

My trifecta choices... should not be too difficult to spot the idiot ones in there! lol
R1
Those with c form are relatively closed matched but although they have attained a few places between them the form generally looks very moderate. As such, I think this may well go to a sand debutant, some guesswork and hope involved obviously but I ended up with...
3 SENDINTHECLOWNS
10 RAINBOW BELLE
1 GRACEFILLY
R2
Tough. No stand-out for me and plenty ifs. I will have a small idiot on Elegant Parade and also Rolling Ruby if the price allows. Other than that I'll take a (watch the market) go with
10 MYSTICAL STAR
3 SHIRLA
1 RUN THE ARROW
(after the prices went up, I wouldn't back either a horse that has disappointed twice or a bridesmaid horse at the odds, far too much of a risk for the possible reward imo)
R3
Not a strong field so I'll take my chances that Johnny Chestnut will take to the surface. Ingot of Gold let me down last week and R1 will go on just in case today!! Something of a lottery between the rest and guessing which one(s) will choose to perform on the day but I'll go with...
2 JOHNNY CHESTNUT
11 SHAKALAND
7 SUKOMOROS
R4
Another where there is no stand-out for me, gone with something of a hunch more than anything...
12 ZAP THE STARS
6 SIAMESE FIGHTER
7 DIVINE INVITATION
R5
Very open, not a betting proposition for me...
2 UNCLE TOMMY
1 PYLON
6 TAPTAP MAKHATINI
R6
Alareef looks to be a decent sand horse but I have a couple of doubts today and think there could be possible value elsewhere...
12 FORTRESS MINE
6 CINEMA SCOPE
10 DUTY DANCE
2 HANG FIRE
R7
Toughest on the card...
4 VELDDRIFTER
3 WISHFUL HEART
2 PAPA JOE
R8
Had Orlando down to win last week when a scratched reserve and Imperial Empress did the form no harm. The Angelus is a risk as inconsistent imo. Royal Cookie of interest on breeding from a good draw but Khumalo on the other. Diamond Lill an R1 horse and Cerise Silk my best roughie in the race from a good draw..
16 ORLANDO MAGIC
1 THE ANGELUS
11 IMPERIAL EMPRESS
6 CERISE SILK
Eye-catching jockey bookings with Striker in the 2nd n 3rd, possibly worth a small e/w double.
Be(s)t of luck to all (tu)
