Did Muzi cause the fall? Not according to the Stipes Report
c)JET EXPLORER (R Fourie) over-raced entering the first bend brushing ICE MACHINE (G Hatt) and shifted out. Thereafter JET EXPLORER (R Fourie) shifted out onto the heels of ASTRO NEWS (M Yeni) who had shifted in slightly. A number of strides thereafter, with a general slowing of the pace into the first bend, JET EXPLORER (R Fourie) clipped the heels of ASTRO NEWS (M Yeni), stumbled and fell, dislodging Jockey R Fourie at approximately the 1200 metre mark.

If Muzi sees that Richard is battling to hold his horse, then why does he look and still keep coming in? Surely more of a reason to stay off?:S

in my limited experience of watching racing if a horse is unsettled, some of the time having a horse in front of it helps it to drop the bit, but I think if you ask Muzi now with hindsight he will say he should not have moved across imo

Craig correct. He didn't try, not even slightly..... to stay where he was, even after looking left and seeing Richard there and in spite of other jocks shouting . Again, its Muzi involved. I read the stipes report, which uses the word "slightly".... Well, he either moved over or he didn't. And "slightly" means that he did.......simple.

im no expert but as per the stipes report its okay to move outwards as fourie did twice but muzi moving inwards once should lead to a 6 month ban is this fair?

Craig if you are suggesting that he deliberately swerved his horse in front of Richard in order for Richard's horse to fall, do you perhaps know the motive for such an action? or do you perhaps consider him a reckless rider?

Unless he has death wish I doubt there is a rider in the world that would try that as there is also a big chance that he(Muzi) could come down or get injured

Aren't jocks warned to keep their mounts on a straight path?

Didn't something similar happen to Conrad Wilkinson (sure miss him as a jock)?

Keniza999, he did not swerve his horse. He came in deliberately from the outside, looks across and keeps coming. Anyone who knows anything about riding will tell you that a horse that is pulling hard will move around andRichard is trying to steady his horse and he is in behind the other horse and Muzi does not want to race 3 wide so moves in in front of Richard and Richards horse then goes into the back of Muzi's and falls and breaks his jaw. Richard was just controlling his horse that length or so off the horse in front of him when Muzi
squeezed him out and the horse and Richard fell. Without doubt if Muzi had stayed out, Richard and the horse would have finished the race. I have just spoken to Justin and Richard said he shouted to Muzi for 50m to not come in. He said he just looked and kept coming. The horse is not well at all. Has had one operation and needs at least another one more. He has broken his bottom jaw down the middle and across. His nose is broken in 4 places. I think I know what the other jockeys think of Muzi's riding but better they tell you.
