for anyone who fancies Futura in the main race, surely One Cool Dude is then also a big runner on the card based on last run :S

Don't have my book with me, but just from what i remember, one or two should run closer to him at the turn around in the weights. May still win but not a good thing in my view.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I have said on a few occasions on here that I am sort of 'torn between 16 lovers' as far as the July is concerned - so I went back to the DN and the Woolavington and the 1900 KZN Breeders won by Everest on Sunday and then back to the Met.
At the risk of having to wipe the egg of my face come Saturday I am now of the opinion that the 3yr olds are too high in the ratings and that an older horse will win this year. I base this on a line through Everest, which imo ran to 95 at best on Sunday - so if he ran to 95 in the DN, I have Legislate running to 101 (depends of course on how you interpret weights over distance) - so at 110, I say he (and therefore all of RC, LtK and Capt America) are too high in the ratings.
I also have Futura at 101, so in theory he is best in here with the other 3 yr olds - even the filly In the Fast Lane imo is too high - I have her winning the Woolavington at around 103 - so not as badly 'out' as the colts - and not impossible that she could finish in front of all of them.
Getting to the older horses, I think Punta Arenas is the right one - looking at his Met run, at the weights he has the beating of Capetown Noir, Whiteline Fever and King of Pain, nothing much between PA, Espumanti and Halve the Deficit on the BW 1900, but I 'feel' that PA will be better than those two over 2200; also he looked good in his gallop last week - so I am quite happy with the 40/1 and 9/1 first four I took ante-post.
Cherry on the Top, purely at the weights, should also finish in front of Espumanti, and therefore must be a danger to Punta Arenas, but then Jet Belle looks to have CotT's measure on last year's Woolavington - so not entirely out of the question that she could be right there - she could also finish in front of WF and CTN on the Gold Challenge run - good place value when compared to those 2 imo :S
Now I just need to go and look for an effective egg-swiper before Saturday :

Same token, if you fancy Rakes Chestnut, then Lockhead Jetstar must be a massive runner.
