Would LOVE to host a tipsters challenge over the course of a full month not just one meeting or venue but a FULL MONTH. 1 choice hypothetical R100 win & place on each selection... It would be extremely hard to beat our software generated ratings...I would even put R5000 in a Kitty towards the challenge each throws in winner takes all...

Bob should open a monthly repeat thread on this one.

I think some people miss the point on tipsters and I refer only to the good ones.

1. Any decent tipster knows there is no guarantee he is ever going to select a winner. Why stake your own money, say R100 at 10/1 when 10 people will pay you R100 for the info? You get your R1000 win or lose and no risk. That is why they tip and don't necessarily back the horses themselves. It does not mean they are not good at what they do. Why do people pay it, because they don't have the time to study in detail.

2. I have said I think Loopy is very good, he is the only person I know who "sells" tips and in fairness to him, his prices seem pretty reasonable to me. I have not examined his results in detail but he is definitely not to be ignored when commenting on the threads. The reason I don't pay him... a) I like win bets and preferably at idiot prices, tis just my way and he concentrates on places whatever the price and 2) as Bob says, I like the study and challenge of solving a puzzle for myself. There is a fun involvement here, not just purely a monetary thing. Some of us are happy to lose provided we think we are getting value for money in terms of entertainment (whether SA racing provides that is for another thread!!)

3. You should never imo back a tipped horse blind, unless the odds are good enough to nibble and not get hurt. Do your own form studying (assuming you have the time!! in case it sounds like I am contradicting myself lol) before listening to the tips. If the tip is one you have confidence in, get on. If you have doubts, leave it. You don't have to back every tipped horse.

At the end of the day it is all personal choice and personal circumstance. Do or don't do as you wish :)

Loopy your post is very clear until you mention R5000,Is that your proposed buy in or your contribution to the pool...

Colors initially my thoughts where that it would be a competition just for tipsters charging for tips...to settle who is the best tipster over the course of a full month of tipping... various meetings to show completeness & once and for all answer the question.

I would be happy for each tipster to do a R5000 Buy in for the month and the winner takes all initially ... but giving it some thought I guess ANYONE that pays the R5000-00 Buy in can participate and I will gladly administer it...if need be

I am not a (paid) tipster. but I have 5K that says your software generated ratings won't beat me over a month.
My money on WIN only.

Mine being on Wins & Places and yours being on only wins I am confident to say you have absolutely ZERO chance. Adding the exhaustion factor for man vs. Machine over the course of a full month no rest days...well it can't get less that zero..

You want a compo based on your needs (wins only ) by all means then whomever wants to enter can enter...but that Will NOT be me...our selections software are specifically designed to find the horse with the highest probability to PLACE , not win I'm afraid .. Never believed you can show a profit on wins only...NEVER WILL...

You can have your eachway bets, mine on win only - you say I have zero chance, so let's go! I will even have you a monkey on the side that if you had gone for wins only during the competition, your balance would be bigger than with the eacway method.
Showing a profit is not part of the competition - the biggest balance wins.
