Tipsters - reliable?
10 years 10 months ago
Hi all
I've been punting for about a year now and I've been enjoying it, had my ups and downs etc.
I'm looking for some insight regarding tipsters, John Sweet and Matthew Stevens specifically. Do I even bother with tipsters? What are their success rates? Is it even worthwhile signing up for one of these?
Any insight would be great
Thanks

Both seem nice enough blokes who put the work in unlike some of the fly by nights.
But it depends what you want, i personally just follow money so have no need for tipsters or even form :woohoo:
if your wanting to get serious about the game i would rather do the leg work myself

Spot on bro - study form and make your selections
If is loses - lesson learnt
If it wins - pat yourself on the back and find the next winner

True, well said. You do get your true form analysts though and if they can provide me with good enough reasons why a certain horse has a better chance than others to win, then they might be worth following. This goes beyond just analyzing the racecard, formgrids, etc has certain races the pace is false, there might have been lots of scrimmaging at the start, headwind, tailwind, etc, which might not be in any form guide, so if they have in depth knowledge by viewing each race itself and then picking up on these factors goes along way. Better still, if we come across this in races ourselves there are race alerts/trackers to notify you of this when the horse is carded to run. Having a day job, pretty much makes it very hard to do a full analysis like this. Little off the topic but Neil Pretorius, could really pick the lurkers in the parade ring and when they going to the start.

should this not read "lose or lose"? not knowing how to read form & intent unfortunately I could only see it going 1 way...
soms guys either do not have the time to study form or not competent to do it themselves... SO they hire a John Sweet or Matthew Lips to do the graft for them...since they still like a bet every now and then ...knowledge is power after all.. You could teach yourself in the long run yes... For sure...maybe the 10000 hour rule ...good luck with that... lessons learned might prove to be less cost effective than paying for a "tipster" if you would like to call it that...each to there own ...

think about it, if paid tipsters were that good then they would not be wasting their time selling their tips. They would be backing the horses that they fancy full on and setting up accounts all over the world in order to get the max out of it thus getting the best price right up until the off.

Both Gates and Buffet are giving away most of their money to Charity
In June 2006, he announced a plan to give away his fortune to charity, with 83% of it going to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.[118] He pledged about the equivalent of 10 million Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (worth approximately US$30.7 billion as of June 23, 2006),[119] making it the largest charitable donation in history, and Buffett one of the leaders of philanthrocapitalism.
