What a career ! Striker rode his 4999th winner today. After some 26 years of support, association and friendship, Louis did the braai in the lapa and was very happy that the legendary Molly and Nico joined in.
On Saturday, Piere rides at Kenilworth in Cape Town and it is probable that he will reach the unbelievable milestone of 5000 winners.

The LGRS team wishes Piere well and thank him for the many winners and support over the last 20 or so years.

One question would be what does he rate as his best winner / ride of his 5000 winners?

I was talking about Lester Piggott on another thread and we are aware he was the "clsssic" jockey but his winners were just short of 4500 winners

the one ride that stands out for me was when he was jocked off azzies overdog and he picked up the ride on a horse of jean hemings and it was a 5 furlong race at germiston where he came from around 8 to 10 lengths back to snare overdog on the line

That would be interesting Dave. The subject came up last night and the Molly went to JJ in Hong Kong. Molly feels it was absolute perfection in timing etc etc. Piere commented that during the race he knew he had to do something and he had to hold his horse together whilst getting Felix to go for the stick first. It was very interesting how Piere described the race.
Piere didn't actually commit to that being his best ride or such,was only commenting on what Molly read into the race.
We had a great evening overall, which you can only have when Molly is around....

Pirates, that was an incredible race. The horse was Tudor Rullah. At scratchings, ma Heming put him on as we had just been jocked off Overdog. Tudor Rullah used to battle for early pace over the 1200m Turffontein trip, so the Germiston 1000m was way too fast for him. He was still some 11 lengths off, with 400m to go....

I am almost certain that you were on course that day...?
