Just wait until the mystery Aussie punter sees the co-mingled pools...the havoc he will create with dividends !!!

So pirates are you saying that you could have got as much 16/10 as one wanted??? the days of 100's of thousands of Rands being traded on Interbet are long gone...
The "crap" you refer to is there to be seen...the dividends displayed are what was paid out and the win pool was over R1m....the bigger the pool the bigger the value...soccer 13 and Pick 6 divs are proof of this ...

Titch one of your jockeys gives you the graft
Do you take a fixed odds bet at say 8/1 or do you take your chance on the tote ?
And end up on at half the price ?

Re: Form a queue to get your cash back guys
10 years 5 months agoso now you are veering way off the topic...not only would I have got 16 to 10 my bookie would have layed me a stretch at 18 to 10 and yes he would have layed me up to 50k of it at that price of 18 to 10...don't come with pick 6 and soccer 13 pools they have zero to do with win and place pools and work completely different to them..you stick to the tote for your win and place bets and can wait till after the race for your dividend and I will stick to knowing what my payout will be if the horse arrives..Titch wrote: So pirates are you saying that you could have got as much 16/10 as one wanted??? the days of 100's of thousands of Rands being traded on Interbet are long gone...

Of course I take the 8/1 but for how long can I keep winning b4 that channel is either limited or closed all together..bottom line anywhere in the world where there is no bookmakers the tote and racing thrive...the open bet imo is a parasitical practice which looks to take out maximum and contribute minimum and those who support it fall into the same bracket..

So If I want to get 50k of a horse @18/10 I can call you and you will guarantee me that I will get on as long as its the blower price???

So let them stick to the fixed win odds and not encroach on the other bet types...

titch I have built up relationships with a few bookmaking firms over many years and I do not have a problem getting what I want on with them..Garrick has spoken about this for years on this forum..one thing I wont do is get on for someone else ...I don't like surprizes either way and will continue to take a fixed price win or place bet with them for what I PERCIEVE AS VALUE not the crap I must hear that this is VALUE 10 minutes before the race has been run and the presenter hasn't a clue what the final dividend will be....why do you think Phumelela now own 100 percent of betting world bookmakers firm because they believe that all punters out there are mugs and will buy into this propagands crap of tote wins and places being better than fixed odds?

I see the bookie / tote debate has started early this year !!
Each to their own...for the bets I take (only racing wins and / or places) I prefer the bookie as I will have some certainty with regards to my payout...
There are those that prefer the tote and that is their prerogative...they will start with 20+% taken out and seem glad that that scenario as it contributes to stakes, putting on the show, operator profits / dividends, etc, etc, (benevolent intentions
) but that is still their choice...a bit like putting one's money into an investment vehicle where one has to pay brokerage, platform fees, management fees, etc...just means your money has to work harder over the long term to have a positive return...
And this has not factored in non-sensical dividends or that most dividends on horses that win or place seem to shorten after the race has been run and the pool "closed" already...we know that it is the time-lag due to overseas bets so just accept it as the operators have unlimited trust and credibility...
So, rather than debating a moot point, each to their own as both sides have positives and negatives and neither party seems to be able to convince the other of or acknowledge the positives...
As I have stated before, my view is that bookies should stick to fixed pricing...
