Not so 'Lucky' 15s?

Clearly I've been labouring under a misapprehension for the last 30 years. I always thought a Lucky 15 bet consisted of 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 fourfold - hence the 15 in the name. I also thought, however, that the bet paid double the odds for just one winner (one or two UK bookmakers even pay treble the odds) and a bonus of 10% to returns if all four selections were successful - that, or so I believed, was the 'Lucky' bit of the name. In other words, the bet was NOT just a standard yankee with the four singles added on. I've been doing some research on UK-licensed online bookmakers and the differences between them (overall quality of odds, limits, range of markets, bet types, deposit and withdrawal methods etc.) and it's quite clear that there are some who either don't pay double odds for one winner, don't award a 10% bonus for four winners or don't do either of these things and so effectively treat the bet as just a normal yankee plus the four singles. I'd be interested to know what other Clanners experience of this bet is and whether their understanding of how the bet works is the same as mine.

same as yours Double the odds and 10% bonus on horse racing although some uk bookies dont pay double the odds when you play spots teams in the lucky`s..

Spme shops offer treble the odds when they are in competition with other bookies close by..

Don`t thinks SAF bookies play L15`s? as we know it? sportingbet do i think?

Sportingbet certainly offer them (don't know of any other South African operators that do), although I haven't got round to asking them yet about consolations and bonuses. Betfred offer treble odds for one winner both online and in their shops (although online Lucky 15s are exempt from their Best Odds Guaranteed offer on Uk/Irish horse racing) and a few independents who are not online offer treble odds in their shops (as do William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral and Paddy Power if there is a Betfred shop nearby!).

Contacted Sportingbet about this earlier today. Although I don't have an account, I clicked on four random horses and their betslip clearly showed a Lucky 15 option amongst the multiples on offer, so I got in touch via their Live Chat facility and asked about consolations and bonuses. Their agent, although polite and friendly, clearly had no idea what a Lucky 15 was and kept referring me to their promotions tab which, needless to say, had nothing about Lucky 15s  . In short, I'm none the wiser, but if anyone has placed Lucky 15 bets with Sportingbet, I would be grateful if they could post whether they have received either a consolation of double odds for just one winner or a bonus of 10% for all four winners.
