Craig how can that be libellous? Your board stated what it was going to do with the money. They don't have the cash to buy it back. Get off your high horse please. From what I recall plenty was going to be used to upgrade Greyville and the balance invested. Wtf are you on about libellous?

Palms greased? A couple of people have had to apologize in order to not be sued for mentioning exactly that. They were told to bring the evidence. All they have to do is get the go ahead from the members to release the money invested if it was deemed a good idea. I am not on any high horse, just saying what is the truth.

My opinion (just to make sure Eudey doesn't threaten me with legal case) it would cost over R1 Billion to rebuild a racecourse the same as Clairwood anywhere else accessible to punters in KZN

Clairwood being sold was gutting , by far the best racecourse in KZN but it had to be done

Craig perhaps I write too quickly for you to comprehend.....
I say quite clearly that palms were greased in the sale of NEWMARKET race course. Has this anything to do with Gold Circle? Take a deep breath son, Gold Circle do not walk on water despite your obvious attempts to portray this.

Exactly my point. It seems to me the KZN boys can be a bit defensive WITHOUT reading what I have said.....
Take a pill boys

Someone clever should buy the course at its reduced price, fix it , get a licence and start racing there again..l would love to see the support the Greyville and Scottsville tracks would get if there was racing at Clairwood twice a week.

OTA, read your post again. A similar situation occurred at Newmarket. Palm were already greased. Anyway not going further into it. People who insinuated that before had unconditionally retract there statement and apologize. Oscar no legal case!
Besides the big feature races there are far far more people on course on Friday nights these days than at any meeting at Clairwood except boxing day and The Post race day and some of the feature days.

Won't argue with that .......................its the trend - the parties get better and the racing gets shitter......................brilliant short term strategy ....................not so sure about the long!
Being saying for years ............where does local racing go when all the assests are sold off and the cupboard is bare....................not far off now!
If you inflated the value of the assests that were inherited from the clubs, and compared them with the current assets register/s you would see a uncontrolled downward spiral!
Under the present management ,its a matter of time!

Re: What is happening with Clairwood Racetrack?
10 years 3 months agoI recommend you go listen to nairacs interview with lafferty a few weeks ago where he clearly says that having more people at the course on a Friday nights doesn't mean betting turnover will increase...it is a fact that fields of 12 to 14 horses are ideal for tote turnover to perform at its best...would you rather have a crowd at a meeting eating and drinking for nothing or have nobody there and have optimum fields with turnover at its highest?obviously you prefer the former ...this absolute obsession to get people to the track means absolute shit to the bottom line... I went on sunday and today and it was a ghost town ..the days of people going to the track are over its time to accept and move on and focus on the real issues to increase tote turnover which drives the industry..when you ready to discuss these issues give me a shoutCraig Eudey wrote: OTA, read your post again.
