Re: #WhoIsJayyed
10 years 4 weeks agoThis is so true! Following a horse for months in advance and then seeing it get a shot at a big one is satisfying, every time I'd have cash which was surplus to requirements leading up to it, I'd put it on my antepost selection, whether its R20 or R100 (usually E/W) and I'd end up with a mountain of antepost tickets on the day and filled with hope.. It has paid off with Punta Arenas at 50s but went 80/1 on the day (weird) and then more recently Gold Onyx, both placed at nice prices, hopefully my pick can go one better and win a big one.. I obviously can't tell the future and got burnt especially on Rock Cocktail which I thought had a real chance but never got a run even after a 2nd to jet explorer in the 1900.. Let's hope Jayyed comes through Friday..Press wrote: Gentlemen, this is what the July (and other biggies) are about for me..
Its all about the build up. Finding a horse 2/3 months before the big one, at a real decent price and backing your gut, instinct and hope that he/she will make the final field. Just having a ticket at a big price, of a horse that is now part of the final field is where my thrill comes from. If it runs in, I usually pass out and wake up the next day. If it doesnt, I still had a blast and feel like a winner (consoling myself here). I did that for Bold Silvano, and also Sushisan. It paid off!
Those that didnt pay off was Rumya (J&B Met) and Icy Air some years back.
Thats the essence and fun of the VDJ (for me)
When you running with the big dogs, u can't piss like a puppy..

I have Jayyed in one of my Charity Turf teams - but I have to say that if I had to make the selection today, I would not have included him.
He seems to have respiratory issues, and he really had only one very good run (behind Harry's Son over 1600) - after that he failed to reproduce that run - I just think others have more going for them at present - but I could still end up with egg on my face (but Charity Turf points in the bag) on Friday night.

Every single all to come I've taken over the last week and a half, 11 (was originally 15 but four of them lost) in total including UK racing is onto JAYYED, maximum bet was 300.00 bucks with FEELS LIKE HEAVEN and SHIFTING POWER which ran on Monday, three different bookies (took your guys advice) and I'm now sitting with a potential 43K payout if JAYYED wins so unfortunately I have no choice here but to shout him home! Here's to hoping

I have a smaall feeling in my cajones that It is Written will be a fairy tale story. The fixed place double at ghe moment is 135/1 ....so I had one beer less at the club and took the double for R20. Last time out looked very very comfortable on the Greyville track.

Some good betting support for Jayyed for tonight - but have a look at his July price now. 33/1 with Betting World.

For an outlay of +-R600, Jayyed not winning cost me R180k. And not placing cost me R25k in possible winnings.
Going beyond the money and gamble, I really wanted to see this boy win. Am I stupid if I still follow him in the Daily News??

That was painful.. Rakes Chestnut here we come.. Pushed along from the starting stall, threw my ticket in the bin b4 they got to the home straight.. Maybe I'm also a fool but if he runs in the daily news I'll back him again, just cause if he pops up I won't be kicking myself.. But extremely disappointing run last night..
