Same Jurisdiction
Legislate
Helder berg Blue.

Hoping to close a double and treble on Legislate. Should Legislate win today he will shorten for the July.

Dean321, I have multiple doubles and trebles running onto LEGISLATE, if not needing the run too much he will beat FUTURA, SAME JURISDICTION also looks the right one, I could be wrong but I think SJ unbeaten at Greyville.

10 horse field your selection no 6 to run first or second - each unit cost R18(6 with 9 horses and then nine horses with 6) You call it exacta float 6 with field to the operator. I like exactas like this because you might really like a horse to win and it gets pipped by an outsider or it wins and an outsider runs second. The biggest I've caught was about R900 in Dubai on one of the World Cup nights a few years back - I think each unit cost about R36. Does not always pay bombs but for me it works because I only have to concentrate on finding one horse I like to finish 1st or 2nd in a race and then pray the payout betters the outlay

Brendanr wrote: I'm not very big into race times but they have to be considered. This just stands out for me..

The day Futura won the queens plate, in a MR 78, St tropes did the course 1 seconds faster than, that's about 6 lengths. The day he won the met ertijaal did the course 1.5 seconds faster. That's about 8-9 lengths. The prep run at Greyville 3 weeks ago times were over 1.5 seconds slower than a maiden field that same day, so collateral can't really be considered on that run as it was basically a gallop at this level.

With last years Met fields vs earlier years where Great horses have won:

Igugu in 2012 did it in 123.75.

River Jerez in 122.82

Dancers daughter and pocket power 124.06

Futura did it in 125.38.

Today I would like to see No Worries set a true pace, Legislate and Ice Machine will be sitting close up and then see how Futura quickens in the run to the line..

He's no doubt a star, but I don't think he is a 120 MR, In my opinion!

Everyone entitled to an opinion B)

Pace makes the race time - slow pace = slow race time - and for me (apart from the sprints) race times are mostly not factored into my selections - except for treating race form with some suspicion in slow run races.

Some thoughts for today:

R1: Silver Falls tries the trip - out of a Fort Wood mare so could improve to feature

R2: Can't really see any spooks here - between Bulleteer and Danish Zealot from Ethylene, Vittoria and Upstream

R3: Al Ciberano and Rock Me Var both winners over this trip, so those are my preference - some longer shots for trifecta's and quartets include Cinema Scope, Classy Fighter and Piano Man

R4: Very tough - many trying the Poly - so Beloved Country or the field for me

R5: Lucky dip

R6: Another lucky dip

R7: Preference for the course specialist Same Jurisdiction - but taking the draws into account, Maybe Yes could make her run; Hammies Hooker the class, but the Bass stable has not been in the greatest form in KZN; Ataab the best long shot imo

R8: Going on what the stable said this morning on USO, this is Legislate's target, so who knows if he will even go for the July; Futura even if not not 100% will stlll not roll over - but needs a pace; Ice Machine one possible joker in the pack, but I think he would prefer it softer; Willow Magic may be better than rated and needs inclusion in bigger perms

R9: Real tough handicap - Kochka has found plenty support, and is one of quite a few who needs to win this convincingly to get into the July

Enjoy B)

Having watched USO this morning cos it was so cold and I refused to get out of bed, none in the panel liked Same Jurisdiction.

I guess we only backed SJ because of sentiment and stable affiliation. A definite case of my heart overruling my head.
