Royal Ascot
10 years 5 days ago
Hi guys, just asking for a bit of advice. Schedule has opened up and I'll be able to attend the royal ascot on the 18th June. Obviously I'm a bit late to the party and all but Silver Ring tickets are still available but grandstand tickets are sold out. Is it worth the effort to find a Grandstand ticket or is the Silver ring just as enjoyable to watch the day for anyone who's been? Thanks for any help.

Thursday's my only free day there, what a pity. It's so late now I can't get into the royal enclosure and don't know of many people over there so box not an option unfortunately. Thanks for the heads up though, I guess I'll try again next year

Was at the 2007 Royal Ascot on the Sat. Had the good seats but still battled to watch the main race (our own War Artist ran 3rd) - too many people in the stands. The course seems to be higher than the lower level grand stand seats making viewing difficult.

Try looking for tickets on Viagogo website. You will pay above face value but I am sure you will find something

California Chrome team unhappy to be at Ascot
as the trainer’s son makes clear it is owner’s choice to run at Royal meeting. “Obviously, we’d rather be home and running there ... It’s not our decision, that was up to the owners and we’re just going to do what we can that’s best for the horse,”.
However, Dettori was happy with his gallop on Thursday.

Warning to fenians and Scottish nationalists - this meeting is right royal pomp. They even sing those British troop songs eg Its a long way to Tippereary..., We are marching to Pretoria... etc.

Spielberg could star for Japan at Royal Ascot
WHILE Japan's quest to win Europe's most valuable race, the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, is a high-profile tale of so-near-yet-so-far, the nation has also yet to post a winner at Europe's flagship festival, Royal Ascot.
Trainer Kazuo Fujisawa and owner Hidetoshi Yamamoto are aiming to set the record straight next week, and on Tuesday the owner's racing manager Nobutaka Tada indicated there is plenty of optimism surrounding Spielberg's challenge for next Wednesday's Prince of Wales's Stakes.
"Spielberg is one of the best horses in Japan and finished third in the Japan Cup a few years ago, but we feel he's better over a mile and a quarter and won the Tenno Sho at that distance last November," he said.
"He likes to come from behind and we hope he can be competitive in what looks a strong race. We have booked Christophe Soumillon, who is a top-class jockey."
Spielberg, one of several international contenders for the Prince of Wales's, is between a 10-1 and 16-1 shot in a market headed by Irish-trained Free Eagle at 7-2.
Soumillon is also expected to partner Super Moon in the Hardwicke Stakes - he is also available at 16-1 - but the participation of Lelouch in the Queen Anne Stakes or Royal Hunt Cup is in doubt, the seven-year-old having missed a crucial workout last weekend.
Tada added: "Unfortunately Lelouch has had a setback, which means there's a doubt whether he will be able to run."
The ground at Ascot on Tuesday was good, good to firm in places. There are possible thundery showers on Thursday evening, continuing into Friday, but the forecast is largely dry.
