Divorce papers have been served...
9 years 11 months ago - 9 years 11 months ago
Guys, I have decided that the love affair between myself and SA racing has definitely run it's course (and not because of yet another course closure lol) so I am out of here.
There are many reasons for this but at the end of the day, all the reasons combined comes down to one thing... it just isn't "fun" any more. The "UK" bookies who restrict all to easily and without reasonable cause, the lack of transparency, the "arranged" results, the false influences in the markets, the state of the tracks, the move away from turf meetings, the failure to accept responsibility by those in charge etc etc etc have all combined to leave me, not only frequently annoyed but also, less and less interested in studying, which means I have less and less chance of winning and then, when I do have an occasional success, the bookies just restrict me any way! So, what's the point?
Now, I don't know how long it will take from the serving of papers to the divorce being finalised so I may still appear from time to time posting a.n.other loser but it will be an occasional post rather than a regular thing from now on should I do so.
I thank Dave and Bob in particular for this excellent site which has been my oxygen for the past few years. They really deserve credit beyond words. But, to all who have contributed, it has been a very good ride and, for the most part, a very enjoyable ride. There are plenty here who I would gladly share a beer or two with. I could mention names but no point, you should know who you are and there are plenty of you.
The Waffler has left the building... but, unlike Arnie, he can only say "I might be back" lol
Be(s)t of luck to all

You have boxed and boxed on when things did'nt always go our way
I sincerely hope that in the not too distant future you will make a return, like Ali, Frasier Foreman and the like

Englander, your decisions and reasons are very interesting and I am particularly interested in the timing!
Why: well I have loved my racing for over 40 years but it is no secret that I am concerned about the local product and for that reason I have been following UK racing (in demo mode mainly) trying to make sense of the form ,handicapping ,ratings etc "just in case".
Whilst I also get frustrated with some of the local issues you mention ,I came to the conclusion ,just this week, that UK FLAT racing is much harder to predict than ours with form reversals ,nonsense runs to ratings etc. and it became a sort of homely comfort to me......lol
I think a break might be the medicine you need but for me racing has always been hard to live with but harder to live without so my prediction is: you will be back so SEE YOU SOON !!!!!!!
