General opinion is that PA had had enough chance to go past PK but it looked like he was holding him there. Last year was only a short head whereas this year was not that close.
I actually think that if PA had won he would have lost the race on objection as his brushing of Power King caused that horse to stumble badly. All credit to the winner for regaining his balance and fighting on to the line.

My small contribution...
I thought that Power King's move out was precipitated by Helderburg Blue...yes Power King moved outwards a lot but was going better than Punta Arenas and showed courage in regaining stride to keep Punta Arenas at bay...lots of runners had running taken up on the outside half of the course but shouldn't a good jockey place horse to avoid such intances ?? !!
Also agree that Power King, post race, looked like a horse that had no more to give...hope he gets a good, long, well-deserved rest...

Too much scrimmaging and looking for openings into the straight and IMO this will be detrimental to the event as it was evident that not too many were risking injury the likes of Whylie Hall etc.
Compare to last year where Whylie set the pace and Legislate followed this year was a lot untidier.
Appears so to me too...would have expected the other way considering the tight track...yes...I think there is much to be improved...like the basics of a track...

you can complain all you want but the lot down here that run the game will not listen to anyone so just accept that luck will play a massive part in determining results on these big days..look for horses that have got good gatespeed fairly well drawn and race from up there and don't have to rely on gaps or running space because it aint going to happen at champs de graveville

A bit off the subject .............well done to Shaheen Shaw who was on Power King in clearly a big way and was in studio when the objection was announced ................he conducted himself in a very professional way which, under the circumstances, must have been very difficult ...................his voice today bears testament to how he shouted it home .........................Good luck to him and as usual a pleasure to race with!

Remember it was the VdJuly and not the Met so loads of J&B and JWB were not as easily available as say .......airtime perhaps?
Come to think of it, there was a signal problem!

The Stipe's has no a clue on what is to be done. This years intimidation was worse than last years. Sorry to write this but although I also had money on Power King he should be placed last. We need fair play Stipe's wake up.

No man Power King was going way better then P/A and Power King harmed it's chances more with slipping like that,Power King was always in front of P/A right result, last year was different the two horses ran on to each other for about 150 m or more, totally different objection.

Yes ,a completely different objection because Power Kings transgressions started much earlier than the Punta Arenas incident!!!!!
The new rules have led to far more careless riding ............if a horse is given a gentle nudge, the transgressor might lose the race .....if the horse is nearly knocked over the rail and finishes unplaced,it keeps it .......strange justice ?
