I disagree, PK was drifting under pressure PA was running on strong and we are all just guessing imo..

Legal Eagle would have run very close without being squeezed ( probably wasnt fast enough when he needed to be )

If Legal Eagle had finished in the money the objection on his behalf would have been interesting...

We now have a situation where a race with a massive build up in terms of anticipation and public betting comes down to whether your horse happens to get the lucky split at the right time.

I understand that is a part of racing, but 18 horses is that strip of ground has become nothing more than a lottery.

Vee Moodley couldn't be happier,he's turnovers are up,so we'll see more of the same next year.

I for one won't be betting on next years July,I'd rather make a donation to a charity.

I highly recommend that the stipes report for the race be posted up here just to aggravate a few posters and also power king did the same hanging across the track in his previous race

THE STARTER REPORTED :
a) MAJMU (AUS) (A Delpech), FRENCH NAVY (R Danielson), HALVE THE DEFICIT (P Strydom) and THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) (C Schofield) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) :
a) POWER KING (S Randolph), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D Kannemeyer advised. (TN)
b) PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon), placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S Elley advised. (RJ)
c) TELLINA (J Geroudis), placed third, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G Woodruff advised. (SA)
d) Near the 1900 metre mark DYNASTIC POWER (G Cheyne) over-racing, clipped the heels of DEPUTY JUD (C Orffer) and stumbled.
e) Early in the final straight THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) (C Schofield) became baulked for a number of strides and thereafter was switched in to obtain a clear run.
f) GOLD ONYX (NZ) (G Behr) became baulked for a number of strides approaching the 300 metre mark.
g) PINE PRINCESS (W Kennedy) and TAMAANEE (AUS) (S Khumalo) became cramped and were eased approaching the 250 metre mark.
h) Approaching the 200 metre mark POWER KING (S Randolph) shifted out carrying LEGAL EAGLE (A Marcus) outwards, which resulted in GOLD ONYX (NZ) (G Behr) becoming cramped and forced to check and HALVE THE DEFICIT (P Strydom) becoming cramped for galloping room for a number of strides on the inside of PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon) which shifted in slightly.
i) HOT TICKET (K Neisius) became cramped on the inside of PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon) near the 250 metre mark.
j) Approaching the 100 metre mark THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) (C Schofield) shifted in inconveniencing DYNASTIC POWER (G Cheyne).
k) Near the 100 metre mark PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon) hanging in, shifted in resulting in POWER KING (S Randolph) and PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon) brushing. Thereafter PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon) shifted in slightly bumping POWER KING (S Randolph) which resulted in POWER KING (S Randolph) being turned outwards and both POWER KING (S Randolph) and PUNTA ARENAS (I Sturgeon) becoming unbalanced.
l) An objection was lodged by Jockey I Sturgeon, the rider of the second placed horse PUNTA ARENAS, against the winner, POWER KING (S Randolph), on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After considering the evidence and the patrol video, the Board overruled the objection and allowed the Judge’s result to stand. Jockey I Sturgeon’s deposit was refunded.
m) In view of the performances WYLIE HALL (AUS) (B Fayd’Herbe) (21.40 lengths), DEPUTY JUD (C Orffer) (24.15 lengths) and TAMAANEE (AUS) (S Khumalo) (26.65 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these horses.
n) HALVE THE DEFICIT (P Strydom) returned post race having cast the right fore shoe.
o) THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) (C Schofield) returned post race having cast the left fore shoe.
p) Jockey J Geroudis the rider of TELLINA weighed in, in excess of 1kg. The matter has been adjourned for further investigation.
q) Jockey S Randolph signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of POWER KING, he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to the horses LEGAL EAGLE (A Marcus), GOLD ONYX (NZ) (G Behr) and HALVE THE DEFICIT (P Strydom) at the 200 metre mark. He was suspended for a period of 14 days.

My opinion - agree with pirates - the race will never be the same - defies logic how they can narrow the course - but increase the number of runners  Plenty of bad luck stories - for me I think Legal Eagle was extremely unlucky and Futura - let's just say it was not one of Cormack's best rides. Only one real disappointment imo - Wyllie Hall - what happened there?

Regarding the objection - for me PA would never have beaten Power King - so between those two, I think the right horse won - regarding the rest - well if the race was run 10 times, it would have been a different result every time
