This should be the more "straight forward" of the two local cards with all the plated races, but it seldom pans out that way as we all aware. Two I'm hoping will win are R2, Trip To Heaven, and R3, Madame Dubois.

Having said that, I played the double :-

(Turf R2) Trip To Heaven X (D'ville R2) Jo's Bond

For me, mixing and matching is the way to go today.

Look forward to reading your views.

Looks a decent card today if I'm honest. Best part of the Joburg season as we all start looking for clues of our next superstars.

Race 1 - Not a very interesting maiden, In the Oven and The Golden Boy the proven stayers in this field but Twenty Eight Nine looks like the last run could have seen him turn the corner. Chesa got tons of support when upped in trip last time but ran poorly.

Race 2 - Race firmly lies between Trip to Heaven and Lineker. But looks a watching brief for later in the season.

Race 3 - Another 2 runner race on paper. Madam Dubois has some smart form from the Allan Robertson but one always needs to be wary of 2yr old form as some horses do not go on at 3. Hard knocker Shepard One will take a bit of beating if on song today. Maria Theresa probably needs the run over this sharp distance, Sobonana could be an improver if progressing from 2-3.

Race 4 - Elusiv Seven get the services of Marcus and ran an improved race behind Netflix LTO. But I'd rather be with Jubilee Line, being out of dynasty, the mile will suit and will probably need further in time too. Schillaci ran alright first time at 3, and will eventually get out the maidens but not for me today. One at a price that must be included in perms is Kanplay, Houdalakis in great form and this horse has been running in snatches. Blinkers go on and I can see him making the frame.

Race 5 - Bespoken won her maiden convincingly but will be tested today, Hawker Hurricane is the best weighted horse in the race and must be a huge runner down in class from what he has been running against. Modern Muse if fit will be an interesting prospect after running in a decent handicap before her break.

Race 6 - My filly runs in this race and I do feel we have a huge chance. Shawl is an unproven stayer but with Weichong up is always dangerous and Celtic Heroine will most probably front run with the 4kgs off her back which could set the race up for closers. Form behind Marmalady should be taken seriously and with a small weight pull, we should be able to get closer to Olympia Beijing. Cote De Pablo e/w all day...

Race 7 - Storm Warning looks an obvious runner and is a worthy favorite, 15/10 still worth a bet. For a bit of value, S'il Vous Plait could run a big one. E/W at 7/1 looks a nice play.

Race 8 - All about Mitraad, have always liked this horse and today he must prove he will be a force to reckon with later in the season. Only danger, the track... But with draw one he will take beating. Light The Way another that needs to prove he can step up, while Jolly Roger is unexposed and could still prove a decent sort although thrown in the deep end today.

Race 9 - Deo Juvente and Fah Fee to fight it out. Both on the up but get the feeling Marcus is here for this one as he should progress to graded races later in the season. Caution would be fitness but Woodruff is no mug.

Race 10 - Very tough race as the one I fancy has a bad draw, Oriental Blue was give a soft ride LTO and looks as though the horse has been brought along for a race like this. Step up in distance is exactly what this horse wants and with Striker up I think the intentions are clear. Having said that, 5/1 with a bad draw seems skinny enough to avoid in what is a nightmare handicap. Save the Rhino must be a huge runner but carries top weight as does Mai Thaiga who gets Delpech on board. All in all, a nightmare of a race... Pick your lucky number.

Race 11 - Rich and Dark finished impressively last time and with blinkers on and an extra 200m. This could be the opportunity. Bubba's Doll, Flirting Around and Super Commuter should all be right on top of each other through Sweet Habanero form lines but Florting around should improve for that first outing.

Decent card and we should see good racing.
Enjoy!!!
